Thanks for calling me out. I deserved it. I kind of gave up on the HOF discussion stuff this year until now because of crabby old asses like Sweeney that don't give a shit.

This is very true. It used to be a testament to the greatness of each individual player. Some of the stats were almost unbelievable especially compared to what is considered to be well above average in today's ML game. IMO, they need to create a post-2000 HOF that inducts players that started their careers after 1990. There really is no barometer that can compare players from different eras of the game.

Rivera will go in. but not unanimously. Some asshat writer will pass him over for that very reason alone. And I'm sure there is a writer or two that feels the same about relief pitchers as a few people in here do.

So it wont be unanimous.

Rivera is about the only pitcher other than Halliday that is a modern-day HOF quality pitcher.

Mike Mussina should NOT be in the HOF. He was a very good pitcher in his tenure but simply not HOF caliber. If they vote him in, how could Tony Oliva NOT be voted in?
