Marlins infected number up to 17 now

Toast

Some are blaming MLB for not doing the bubble play thingy.

But what if they got it at one of the bubble sites? Not much difference if you ask me.

Just odds better traveling.

The Miami Marlins will press pause on their season to focus on the health and safety of their players as a coronavirus outbreak has struck the team, the league announced.

The league announced that Marlins games would be postponed through Sunday. MLB also said that games between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees would be postponed as well. The Yankees would start a home-and-home series on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles

"The health and safety protocols were designed with a challenging circumstance like the one facing the Marlins in mind. The response outlined in the joint MLB-MLBPA Operations Manual was triggered immediately upon learning of the cluster of positive cases, including contact tracing and the quarantining and testing of all of the identified close contacts. The Marlins’ personnel who tested positive remain in isolation and are receiving care," MLB said in a statement.

"In over 6,400 tests conducted since Friday, July 24th, there have been no new positives of on-field personnel from any of the other 29 Clubs. This outcome is in line with encouraging overall data since the June 27th start of testing. Through last Thursday, July 23rd, 99 of the 32,640 samples – 0.3% – had been positive.

This is the kind of report I like to hear.

Throwing a baseball at another Human being is one of the most cowardly acts a person can do. If you have a problem with somebody duke it out. Don't go after him with a potentially deadly weapon.

So after he hit a grand slam in the 14 run win Sunday, Gio was wrong to hit Cave...even though he hit it off someone else.

If so...why wasn't he tossed?

Yes if intentional it's wrong no matter the circumstances.
I don't know if that was accidental or intentional. If it was intentional Gio is a POS coward.

So is it wrong for Trevor May to throw 96-98 mph gas up and in, head high, to back a batter off the plate?

It has a purpose as well.

One would think a veteran like Gio, who is now a control soft-tosser...can throw the pitch wherever he wants.

If it's an intentional attempt to hit a batter it is wrong no matter what. If it's trying to back someone off the plate how worth it is it if you could badly injure someone. If a pitch intentionally forces a person to drop or duck IMO it is wrong. What if the guy isn't fast enough. Not worth it.

So backing him off intentionally is bad

How is the pitcher supposed to keep guys full of body armor from crowding the plate?

Oh that's ok, just stand over the plate and hit my pitches so we lose.

So a veteran like Joe Kelly let two pitches go awry. Got it

Backing him off or throwing at him. When you have to rely on the other players quickness to not hit him IMO it's wrong. Maybe hitters are a bit more successful. So be it. Regardless you are ducking my point which is throwing a very hard ball 80 MPH or faster at another person intentionally can result in serious injury. It's cowardly and whoever does it is a POS.

The pitch that hit Cave was a breaking ball. Pitchers don't generally try to hit a batter with a breaking ball. They're too hard to control.

Getting hit accidentally can't be avoided. Pitches get away and that will happen. The only way to prevent it is to not play the game. Getting hit intentionally should not be part of the game. Attitudes need to be corrected about that.

Even in softball it's amazing how many times a pitch inside gets the moms and dads riled up., and the batter uncomfortable.

My daughter is very good at hitting the corner inside for strikes while the batter's feet are moving back. Most of the time the at bat finishes well for her.
