Punk ass little bitch smiling like that for his mugshot.

Nothing would make me happier than seeing money make no difference here. Give him what I'd get for pulling half that shit.

Gaining cred and popularity should not be the only outcome.

I sometimes wonder if Archie Manning is the NFL's equivalent of a mafia don!

For the life of me I will never understand the fear people have of criticizing Peyton Manning. That was one of the all time worst performances by any QB in Super Bowl history - and it came from a guy who just set numerous passing records in the same year!

That is definition of choke.

Kaepernick went to Seattle and played a much better game! Luck beat that defense.

Let's not pretend that all of a sudden this was the best defense of all time and no QB could score against them.

If you watched the game closely you could see the real problem; Peyton had no accuracy on passes over 20 yards. That mean Seattle didn't really have to cover the deep balls and could really jump those shallow crosses the Broncos were running!

This is basic football.

Seattle has a good passing D. Manning can't throw the ball down the field. Therefore they stuff the short stuff and shut him down. Add in to that the lack of a Broncos running game and you get 43-8. If Manning had ANY accuracy throwing deep then Seattle would have been forced to pull back.

But instead of looking at the obvious reasons - including criticizing the great Peyton - people want to make up every excuse in the book!

Ex-NFL S Darren Sharper charged with rape
Ex-NFL S Darren Sharper has been charged with drugging and raping two women in Los Angeles.
These are felony charges. Sharper, 38, is accused of raping two women whom he had invited back to his hotel room. He reportedly gave them liquid shots containing Ambien and morphine, causing them to pass out. One woman woke up while Sharper was assaulting her, while the other woke up naked hours later. It's been requested that bail be set at $10 million because Sharper is being investigated for rapes in L.A., New Orleans, Nevada and Arizona. Sharper is currently employed by NFL Network but was suspended without pay last month.

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

I wonder if there are any unsolved rape cases here in MN from 2005-2008 that fit that pattern...

Quite the coup for your cousin. How cool is that? Are you going to find your football allegiances a little tested?

So,  Jacksonville managed to trade Blaine Gabbart to the SF 49ers for a 6th round pick.  If they could trade him.  We should be able to trade Ponder for at least a 6.

Can it be that Michael Vick will once again be throwing bombs to DeSean Jackson and both will be wearing green - but not Eagles green?!!!

It turns out Cam Newton has been playing on a bad ankle his entire NFL career
By Frank Schwab

The news that Cam Newton needed surgery on his left ankle, a procedure that will keep him out four months, came out of the blue for most of us.

It probably wasn't such a shock for Newton, considering he has dealt with a bum ankle for more than three years.

Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Newton's ankle problem "probably" goes back to 2010 and his season at Auburn, according to the Charlotte Observer.

So what that means is, Newton finished off a Heisman Trophy campaign, won a national title, won NFL offensive rookie of the year, has had statistically the best three-year start for a quarterback in NFL history including 2,032 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns ... all on a bad ankle that needed surgery.

Maybe there's something behind this whole Superman alter ego.

Newton, who hasn't missed an NFL game, was working out at Auburn where he has been taking classes, and experienced continuing pain in his left ankle. He re-injured it in Week 15 last year against New Orleans and again in a playoff loss to San Francisco. The Charlotte Observer said he has worked through similar pain in previous offseasons, but it wasn't dissipating this year so he underwent surgery on March 19 to tighten the ligaments.

The timing of the surgery was curious, so long after the season, but the Observer also said that Newton figured the pain would dissipate and he would play through it, as always. It wasn't getting any better this time so he had surgery.

The surgery should get Newton back to 100 percent before training camp starts, and apparently we haven't seen a 100 percent Newton yet in his NFL career. He has been darn good at whatever percent he has been playing at.

I suppose they could make rules against JA's and Robison's sack celebrations. If you want to watch a lasso move, watch the rodeo. If you want to see somebody fishing, watch a fishing show.

Perhaps a rule should be made against the Lameblow leap ? If you want to watch athletes jump, watch pole vaulting.

There's probably a few that I missed ....

This may have been posted here awhile back, I just don't remember, and found it in the Gosselin tweets:

The Seahawks won a Lombardi Trophy with the worst pass offense in Super Bowl history (26th in NFL).

Interesting this past season:

There were 65 interceptions returned for touchdowns in the NFL this season. Teams returning them went 50-15 in those games...

So just with INTs (not looking at fumbles returned for a TD), teams that INT a pass for a TD won about 77% of those games.

The Chiefs and Bears both returned an NFL-leading 5 INTs for touchdowns. Both teams posted 5-0 records when scoring on an INT. And: Chicago, Cincinnati & KC all scored 6 defensive TDs in 2013. Only one NFL defense failed to score a TD this season -- New Orleans.

With the addition of Zimmer, and then a CB like Munnerlyn, maybe the Vikes can lead the league in INTs for TDs next year ? What would be even better, is, if they would lead the league in offensive TDs AND defensive TDs. Could happen, if they can get a great QB in the draft. But it will probably be 2 or 3 years before they can be on top in both categories.

That's high, but it's more likely a subset of the larger picture of simply winning the turnover battle. Teams that won the turnover battle were 71-17 for a .809 winning percentage halfway through last season, and have won 79% of games over the last 5+ years. IOW it's not so much getting the TD out of the pick, but simply getting more turnovers that is the key.

One of the most telling metrics on the football field. the team that wins the turnover battle far more often wins the game. Turnovers kill momentum. Turnover break hearts. Turnovers shake the confidence of whomever turned over the ball. And our team seemed to try not to turn the other team over the last couple years.

It's not surprising if you get more turnovers you're more likely to win a game. What I was saying, is getting a TD off a turnover is only ONE turnover, but it is quite deflating, especially if it's off of a pass. I think it makes a QB more nervous about certain throws, which leads to more sacks later, and ultimately a win.

The winning percentage from getting an INT for a TD pushes 80%, so really winning the turnover battle should be even HIGHER than that as you are getting multiple turnovers, it shoudl be 90%, but it's pretty close to the same %, around 80% So just getting ONE INT for a TD early in the game is so effective, it gives you nearly the same winning percentage as getting and maintaining more turnovers throughout the entire game. Hopefully, Munnerlyn can start to bring some of those, and hopefully it becomes contagious.

I'm not sure where we were having this discussion, but in another thread there were some talking about Dan Marino, and how his temperament or yelling at teammates played no role in his never winning a SB, that there just wasn't enough talent around him, I'm just not so sure on that.

Someone cited the example of Michael Jordan, and that that somehow proves Marino's 'leadership' was fine. That might have been true IF, he were in a sport with fewer players, and played with a fantastic co-player like Scottie Pippen, and had a zen master coach like Phil Jackson.

I really can't recall a SB winning QB that had a personality like Dan Marino, were there some like that ? Some would say Brady is getting like that, but if that's true, than that might be one of the reasons he hasn't won a SB since Bellichick was caught cheating.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson released a brief statement Wednesday saying he has filed for divorce from his wife, Ashton.

"I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," the statement read. "Clearly, decisions like these don't come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this personal matter."

Wilson and Ashton Meem were married shortly before Wilson was drafted by the Seahawks in April 2012. They began dating in high school.

Wilson getting divorced, the backup QBs making more than Wilson, losing Golden Tate, losing this man:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24537741/seahawks-lose-key-executive-scot-mccloughan-to-resignation

and some good depth, etc .... a few chinks in the Seahawks' armor, maybe a repeat won't be so easy. I think a repeat is unlikely.

Right now I see it as mostly a 3 way race of teams likely to win next years SB with NE, GB and Denver as the top 3 runners.

Then you have a group just a little ways behind, teams like Seattle, SD, Indy, SF and Carolina, NO, and a few teams that could make big turnarounds like the Giants and Steelers or Ravens.

I'm going with basically 12 teams that have a shot of winning the SB, with 3 of them being stronger contenders than the other 9. Draft might change that slightly. Maybe if the stars aligned for Philly, Detroit, Chicago or St. Louis, but I think you can probably pretty much count out the other 16 teams as having virtually NO chance of winning the SB next year.
