RIP BOOM BOOM Bill Brown

80 years young

Probably got me to be a super fan as much as anyone early on.
He was a CHARACTER
Almost like a cartoon. Right out of central casting.

That throwback screen play pass from Edelman is what makes the Patriots the best team of my lifetime in any sport.
They beat you with slugs, they beat you with stars, they beat you with ideas, they beat you with your own mistakes, they just simply beat you.

The Patriots beat you by doing what is necessary and don't care about anything else but winning.

Too many coaches waste time trying to establish a running game. Patriots will run if they can, and quit trying if they can't. Their culture is based on winning at all costs, I think most of the league wastes too much time trying to have a balance. The Patriots will do the same thing over and over if it works, they dont' care about balance.

They ran Patterson last night, they played hurry up offense out of the gate, they always are pushing forward and not settling for what worked in the past.

I think the Saints, Rams, and Chiefs "get it". I don't think the rest of the league has a clue.

Excellent post Ron

This is amazing from yesterday ... before Sunday, Stafford was the least pressured quarterback in the league.

To me, one of the biggest benefits of going no huddle is to trap the opponent with the wrong personnel on the field, or force them to burn timeouts. Obviously the Patriots do this well. Not so much the rest of the league.

I remember when big, fat Gilbert Brown played for the Packers. He was a force against the run, but a huge liability against the pass. I remember screaming at my television about not going no huddle to trap his fat ass on the field and make him play the pass, tire his ass out or make them burn timeouts.

This isn't even chess. This is checkers, but for some reason, most coaches don't take advantage of this seemingly obvious strategy.

My son is playing baseball for Rochester Community College. For fundraising they do security at sporting events. He has done 3 Vikings games and One Gopher game. He figured out who to ask or where to stand to get picked for being on the field. He was behind the Saints bench last Sunday night and was behind the Vikings bench last night. He is loving it, listens to the players talk and soaks it all in.

Not sure if there is a shortage or it's just easy to use an established group but there are busing them out to South Bend to work luxury boxes for the Notre Dame / FSU game Saturday night and putting them up in a hotel and work luxury boxes for the Bears game on Sunday.

Not sure how the baseball will work out but he is enjoying all these experiences of working security.

Im getting that sense too. Feels like this team is the team nobody is going to want to play in January

I'm still wondering how the hell the Vikes could bag that Buffalo game so badly. Unreal.

Greatly underestimated a bad team and looked past them to the Thursday nighter vs the Rams.

So many of the sacks yesterday were "coverage" related.
I know Stafford isn't great, but he does throw a great ball, with a quick release.
He wasn't purposely holding it, he truly just had nowhere open to go to with it.
When you can COVER, you can be pretty damn hard to beat.

Danielle Hunter should be the NFC D player/week.

Guy is a beast. The move he made on one of the sacks was unreal. Complete whiff by the RT.

And the hustle. The dude got paid this offseason. Still flying around. The fumble return was 100% drive and hustle.
More players need to play that hard.

ATHLETES
you get as many as you can
We've got a couple great ones up front
Even as backups. Wears these OLs out.
Detroits OL, who is actually pretty good, felt whupped half way thru.
They even admitted it afterwards. Just beat down.

Letting Tom Johnson go was a mistake

Getting him back was a stroke of luck.

That Hill kid has a future. Big build, can run.

Was another stroke of luck in picking him up.

Speaking of pick ups...

Am thrilled as hell that Beebe is active now. I wish Zylstra would get an opp, but Watching pre-season, Beebe is a guy that seems to have 'it' .

Yep, didn't want people to think all I do is pull for small white guys, but damn, they can play.
I loved that dude in preseason, happy as hell they gave him a shot
And I also like that Cousins is an equal-opportunity ball spreader arounder.
Still say Zylstra needs that chance now. Dude is big and capable. Could easily be the next Jordy Nelson.

And to your first point .. have been noticing the size of our DBs is evolving, and to me, that's been the difference.
You watch sidelines now, when they stand together, and our DBs are huge. Love that.

Forget just Player of the Week, he's a legit DPOTY candidate. I won't be surprised if he's the best defensive player in the game by the end of the season.

No weaknesses. He's just as great against the run, he's totally unblockable, and he's still learning how to play the position. I'm pretty sure he only developed an inside move over the past 2-3 games...

And he just turned 24 last week. He's younger than some of our players who were rookies last season...
