BTW, Chargers left NO DOUBT, they actually ARE worse at STs than the Vikings

Oh
My
God

I saw the missed FG

and the blatant helmet-helmet on Renfroe

What did I miss?

Zero confidence in their kicker, he missed a couple
They basically have to re-do their game plan around "well, not sure he'd make it, so ..."
Probably helped them at the end, when they basically said (like the Vikings should) "hey, lets score a TD and take away the drama"

My Raiduhs having their usual second-half slump
Mariota was impressive
The D was not.
Herbert is fun to watch. Lots of good young guns in this league.

Anthony Lynn kind of like Zimmer.

We might not have seen Herbert if Tyrod Taylor didn't get hurt.

Ryan Longwell was in disbelief.

After spending 11 seasons with Brett Favre, nine in Green Bay and two in Minnesota, Longwell, a long-time NFL place-kicker, had seen his friend play through countless injuries that turned body parts black and blue, a bitter divorce from Green Bay and his father's death, yet always yearn for that next snap under center.

But Favre was broken. The 2010 season with the Minnesota Vikings was among the most exhausting of his professional career.

A shoulder injury ended his historic streak of 297 consecutive starts in Week 13. He faced an NFL investigation into allegations that he had sent inappropriate messages to a former Jets employee while playing in New York two years earlier.

Two weeks after the shoulder injury, Chicago Bears defensive end Corey Wootton slammed Favre's head to the frozen turf at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, causing a concussion and ending Favre's career for good. Favre had attempted to retire multiple times in the past, including a formal announcement in March 2008, but always returned. This time, there was no debate. He was done.

In a private moment at the team facility later that year, Longwell apologized to his friend. After all, Longwell, along with teammates Steve Hutchinson and Jared Allen, had flown to Favre's home in Kiln, Mississippi, mid-training camp, begging him to return for a 20th season.

For the first time, Longwell saw a sense of relief in the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback.

"I said, 'I'm so sorry I put you through this,' and he basically said, 'This was the best thing that could ever happen to me. It finally put closure on my career,'" Longwell said. "There was no more what if."

Favre's trials set a tone for one of the strangest seasons by an NFL team in recent memory.

The 2010 Vikings had everything:

A stadium roof collapse

The NFL's first Tuesday night game since 1946

The trade for wide receiver Randy Moss, who was released 27 days later after bizarre news conferences and insulting a local restaurant, Tinucci's, inside the locker room

A frozen night of football in an ill-equipped college stadium

The fall of coach Brad Childress, who helped build a dominant roster but had trouble managing it

And a Crown Royal-drunken night in Philly to drown the sorrows

Several coaches and players have joked that they need to write a book about that season.

"You couldn't write this in a script and have people believe it," said former Vikings linebacker Ben Leber, now an analyst for Vikings Entertainment Network. "Each week, you'd say, 'Holy s---, let's add this chapter to the book.'"

40 years ago today on December 14, 1980 the “Miracle At The Met” occurred in a game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Cleveland Browns

Watched the play. Kramer threw the ball from his own 47...and it made it to the 5 yardline. all of 48 yards. Not all that great, but the tip came and one-handed stab of the ball by Rashad was pretty sweet.

So was the hook-and-ladder with Senser and Teddy Brown, who was limping, that covered 30+ yards and 9 seconds from the 20, right before the winner.

I was at my Grandparents house watching it. Rashad was so nonchalant making the catch.

Great memory.

I watched the replay not too many months ago. Loved it. It was pretty crazy. One of the first successful Hail Mary passes. Let's not talk about the first.

Kickers have pretty much made the end-of-first-half Hail Mary almost a thing of the past. In the 80s and 90s I used to look forward to that play almost every single game.

The hook and ladder by Senser and Teddy Brown was special to me
The year before in our HS season we ran it once a game
And got 7 or 8 TDS out of it.
This was before teams taped each other’s games :)

Awesome. You're right, if there was video, we watched it in free time at school...and didn't take it seriously.

Then again, there was a lot in HS I didn't take seriously.

They'll wait for EOY

And retain them because they came close with a young depleted team

That was a great game. I was 9, one of my favorite childhood memories that I still have of the Vikes.

Those extensions were beyond stupid. I have had some hope for the Wilf's because they haven't been afraid to spend money. However, they've proven time and time again to spend it on people that won't give them a good return on investment.

Remember it well.
I was 8 years old. Didn’t have much to be Happy about then as my parents had just divorced
Spent a lot of time by myself as my Mom started working and my Dad moved to Fargo.
Had my 10 year old Sister watching me.
She stayed in our room we now shared in our Apartment.

Watched that play Live as Viking Football reminded of when my Dad was with us.
Jumped up and down and yelled, then called my Dad.
Rashad was so nonchalant.
Like grabbing a beer from the fridge,

Kinda feels like the pain is over, from this season
I always try to find one word to beat to death
Found it, for this Viking season

exasperating

We are piling up worthless, frustrating, seasons with this franchise again
Going nowhere, at a snails pace

Watch KC football, just do it once. I watch them weekly.
They have figured out football
We Never Will

Good description. They are painful to watch far too often. Knowing how bad parts of the team are and they run a 4th down play to their biggest weakness/CHI biggest strength. Mind boggling.

Linebackers 5 yards deep at the snap, 2 seconds later are 8-10 yards deep getting it handed to them. Dang.

And the Vikings' Christmas present is official elimination at the hands of the Saints.

BTW, love the fact Brees wanted to play even tho he's not 100%. And it cost them.

KC isn't taking anyone lightly. But they seem to do just enough to win. Almost as if they're the fastest kid who runs at your pace until the end of the race and he pulls away.

Mahomes took a pretty good beating. That QB Sandwich hit was nasty.

I'm sure Reid was upset the punt returner took an unnecessary risk. But guess what? He didn't get beet red pissed and scream. They moved on.

So ready for house cleaning that probably won't come. The Vikings need change.

Vikings theme song could be a number of songs.

Latest one that popped in my head is from CCR

Someday Never Comes
