As much as I appreciate Thielen and Diggs; would you rather have Thielen, Diggs and Treadwell or Woods, Cooks and Kupp?

3 is more than 2.

Rams hit a downward inflection when Kupp went out for the season; with all three plus the TEs, as well as Gurley going off, Goff kind of had it easy back there.

5 is more than 3 yet Woods, Cooks, Kupp, Everett, and Higbee had 22 TD's. Thielen, Diggs, and Rudolph had 22 as well.

I like math!

Cook has been disappointing. Bud Grant used to talk about how he valued durability. Obviously, some of his players had serious injuries and continued to play. That was not good either. I'm glad that we're smarter about that today, but still I have been disappointed with Cook's ability to stay on the field.

Poor guy cant sleep at night... maybe if he pulled some of that straight cash out from under his mattress he stole for a totally sucky 2018 it would be more comfy...

The comments section below the PFT post is funny and worth a read more than the article! Some spot on posters there...

Here's a good one

“I haven’t been sleeping well”

So, you took money from Sleep Number Beds and it’s not working for you? Just like the Vikings? Hmmmmmm. Ironic.

Cousins brought this on himself. Did he not think there wouldn't be added pressure from the fans and media considering his insistance on this big guarenteed contract?

I'll give him a pass because of the crap o-line. That's a Spielman failing.

Sure we all want him on the field. But ACLs happen. And it's far from unusual that a player isn't all the way back from it the next season, or experiences issues more directly resulting from his period of inactivity. I would also argue that was likely most of Elflein issues this past season also.

One reason we really can't count on getting much from Hughes next season.

How can you get paid big amount of money by a corporation and then come out publicly and complain about the exact aspect that product paid you to be part of team and endorse? Hmmm that is huge irony isnt it?

love what someone commented below...

Apparently, the real sleep number is 8-7-1.

priceless

Kirk better pull his head out this year behind an (hopefully) upgraded OL and coaching/ play calling philosophy or I have a feeling there will be many more restless nights on his sleep number bed!

360 points is simply not getting it done offensively. This may have been impressive back in the Bud Grant days along with the Purple People Eaters but the Vikings defense is a far cry from that dominant.

Cousins has the arm to make any throw (excluding what Mahomes does) and when he and the O are clicking it is really good. I wish he was a quicker, more elusive runner but that is not a necessity with a decent OL, and he is what he is. My concern is what goes on in his head. Going in he seemed to be somewhat unusual, but all that is ok - and even complimented - when the team is winning. Still, I think he puts too much pressure on himself, and that manifests itself in plays where the pocket is collapsing and in too many cases he doesn't prevent a negative thing like a strip sack, a sack, pick six, etc. He seems like a completely rational or logical person, but under pressure he behaves irrationally. Maybe he has hired another specialist to the stable who is helping him calm down, chill out, whatever.

That said, with the sieve that is the OL it is not surprising those things occurred, and I think occurred more frequently as the season went on.

I suspect he will be better in this regard because he knows it is a flaw and the OL 'has' to improve. I mean, it has to. It just does. It will, right?

Well if we want to run the ball without the 90’s Dallas Cowboys OLine then I think buying into this scheme which is what we are going to run with Dennison/ Kubiak makes sense to me-

Here Zim had his shorts in a bunch regarding Keenum and his "lucky horse shoe"

Cousins turns the ball over way more. At least Keenum could and would (right or wrong) try to make a play when things broke down.

All Cousins would do is soil his diaper and curl into the fetal position.

This would make me sad, but I do believe it is a strong possibility. Perhaps he might return with a healthy pay cut, too.

To be correct

Year played with Vikings...

2017 Keenum

7 INT / 1 FUM / 1 LOST

2018 Cousins

10 INT / 9 FUM / 7 LOST

to look at the BIG picture...

Cousins has played 78 games - 65 INT / 48 FUM / 22 LOST

Keenum had his issues with INT and FUM, but we gave Kirk the huge 3 year non voidable contract to be ELITE... He certainly doesnt play with a horse shoe in his pocket, nor does he seem to have big balls... I never witnessed his receivers screaming at Keenum either...

Kirk is a stat monster that seems to have warts in leadership and winning big games...

Keenum is a very average player who when surrounded by talent and aided by a lucky horseshoe can play way over his head, but has never sustained such levels.

Both have major warts, neither will EVER win a Super Bowl?

BUT we have Kirk and must figure out how to win with him...

I think what revisionist history will spin in the future is potentially sticking with the chemistry the 2017 Vikings had with Keenum may have gotten us farther toward a brighter future...

NOT THAT KEENUM WOULD HAVE EVEN MATCHED HIS 2017 NUMBERS...

We would have likely finished with about the same record as 2018...

BUT

Keenum would have signed with the Vikings for much less and even with a longer term contract it would not have been fully guaranteed meaning we could have dumped him the year after and moved on.

It would have also meant that we would have had much more available to spend in free agency in 2017 as well as moving forward with now glaring weakness of OL.

We would not be looking at tough cuts coming this year and next couple years as we absorb the Cousins contact toward the cap.

Future with that extra cap funds and keeping key team players intact would have continued chemistry, and even if Keenum flamed out we still have far more flexability and potentially would have seen just what Kyle Sloter has in his future...

You can spin it however you want .... the 2017 vikes were vastly different - all the way around, not just the QBs - from 2018.

Last year, 2 QBs on new teams.

Hou cn spin however you want .... thr 2017 vikes were. vastly different - all the way around, not just the QBs.

Last year, 2 QBs on new teams.

When comparing why wouldnt you use the common denominator of consecutive years on Vikings teams that other than a few OL changes were very much same. Its what the QB did while on our team in consecutive years, not what they did on another team...

but whatever Keenum Sucked in 2018 on the Broncos, but had an exceptional year prior for us and was one game from the Super Bowl... may never have had that again and we will never know...

Cousins Sucked in 2018 on the Vikings, he has been a stat monster but has always sucked in turn overs, game crushing interceptions, failure to will his team to wins... he has flamed out in his one chance in the play offs and is well documented to have never won a big game, much less nearly any game on a National stage...

But next year Im sure he will lead us to the promise land behind a beefed up OL because that is all that was stopping him from beating Chicago and making the play offs this year...
