Yes, Holmgren won SBs as an OC in SF, won as a HC in GB, and it could be argued that he won one with Seattle, but it was taken away [which I didn't mind, had money on the Steelers].

Favre threw a lot of picks after Holmgren left. A good HC can reign a guy in. Favre had 24 TDs/29INTs in 2005. Then in 2006 he got what would be his 1st SB winning HC since Holmgren [except McCarthy got it with Rodgers], and Favre went from 24/29, to 18/18 in 2006, to 28/15 in 2007. 2007 Favre got a playoff win, then a NFC Championship loss in extremely cold weather, where it wasn't his throwing INTs that led to the loss, mostly NY Giants run game and Eli being clutch.

Favre played above his norm in the regular season 2 years later, motivated, but having a bad HC, Favre went back to throwing a pick to lose the NFC Championship at home against the Saints.

I think Favre could have been reigned in and won another SB with the right HC. He probably would have won another SB with GB in 2010, had it been him instead of Rodgers, that team was a powerhouse. We will just never know.

Although his skillset is more like Rodgers than Favre, I think Cousins could win a SB in Minnesota if he gets matched up with a HC that is capable of winning a SB.

I just doubt he has that with Zimmer. The defense looks too soft in key games, and looks outcoached on both sides of the ball in such games.

Post 3176 was supporting evidence to my earlier assertions, I didn't expect to have to back it up, but there were some that expressed disagreement.

I figured providing more details in 3176 that show someone else was wrong, once losing that argument, they would predictably try to say I was a Packer fan, or something about it getting off topic in the Vikings thread, so post 3177 was showing how I was tying it to Cousins and the Vikings.

Maybe not necessary for you bigo, but I felt there might be some that wouldn't get the point. Bring it all back to Cousins, Rag, skepticism and the coaching staff.

I'm going to rate 2019 a 2 so far. Maybe something in the high 1's.

We'll see if the proceeding months can up the avg. I am skeptical.

If the Vikes win the SB that will count for the year 2020. If they are in the drivers seat and playing good football the fall/winter months that alone with drive the numbers north.

Yes and it's all on him. The other 21 positions are irrelevant to the results.

Fast don't mean shit if he can't catch. The man's been on two teams practice squad and cut from one of them. Hasn't been able to crack an active roster yet. I wouldn't put much faith in the guy being any good.

I'm not saying he can't work his way there, but for every Adam Theilen there are Hundreds of guys that never make it off of the practice squad.

Still trying to figure out the math... how did a team with a top-10 scoring defense and a 4300/30/10 QB only win 8 games? It doesn’t add up.

The issue is take aways. Interceptions and fumble recoveries win games. The Bears, who won our division was #1 in take aways. The NFC Champion Rams were #2. The Super Bowl champion Patriots were #5. KC, who almost the Pats were #8. The also ran Vikings were #16. Despite good numbers on points allowed, Zimmer's defenses here have been traditionally weak when it comes to creating turn overs.

A source said Thursday the Vikings signed Hikutini on Monday to a deal worth $20,000 a week, more than triple the practice-squad minimum of $7,600, after he was waived Saturday by San Francisco. The source said the 49ers wanted Hikutini on their practice squad but wouldn’t pay more than $15,000 a week.

What's his status is right now?

I wonder if Tony Romo's numbers are similar to Cousins ?

Romo seemed similar, would get all sorts of TDs while behind, not so many wins, or clutch plays to tie and win the game in the 4th quarter against good teams.

I would expand a little bit and say Turnover margin. Buffalo (Cousins fumbles), Chi (1st game - Cook fumble), NO (Thielan) we had some absolute killer giveaways.

Quarterbacks get too much credit, and too much blame. The beauty of football is it’s a team game, but too often we can’t see past quarterbacks.

Yet, there’s a reason the quarterback gets paid more than everyone else and we pay attention to their every move. That’s why it will be a long offseason for Kirk Cousins.

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t make the playoffs a season after being one of the best teams in football, and that’s a team failure. The coaches didn’t do a good enough job, the defense took a big step back, and not everything in the offense was Cousins’ fault. But in the Vikings’ biggest games, Cousins was terrible. Whatever the opposite of clutch is, that’s what Cousins was this season.

We were net even on takeaways/giveaways with 20 each. We committed 10 INTs and lost 10 fumbles. We collected 12 INTs and recovered 8 fumbles. Certainly we weren't world-beaters in regards to turnovers but we were still middle-of-the-pack. Yet here we sit as a statistical outlier (again) as an under-performer. It tells me that we have a superior roster in terms of talent and technique but are consistently over-matched in the many areas of coaching that go beyond assembling a great roster and teaching them good technique.

Yep, the same tired argument that Kirk brought with him from Washington... they have been writing that same stuff about him being a stats monster but not being clutch, a winner or a team leader for years... its not new...

Hope you guys enjoy snoring through 2 more years... Guess sleeping is better than watching a game like last seasons Buffalo or Chicago finale...

You guys act like I made up the narrative and m only one saying these awful things about Kirk...
