Talked to cap expert Jason Fitzgerald of OverTheCap. He said it's not too hard for #Vikings to get more 2019 cap room with Adam Thielen extension. Said if his base is cut to $1 million and he gets $15M signing bonus would lower his cap number from $8.1 to $5.15M & create $3M room

$3M is luxury cap space! Time to blow it on a FA turd.

Maybe we can trade for Kalil?

Draft Ford 1, Lindstrom 2 and then trade them for Kalil.

And a bunch of harakiri blades for in here.

Adam Thielen ihas agreed to a four-year extension from the Vikings. $64 million, and could be worth up to $73 million.

Contracts always contain a lot of fluff....like DL has posted...35 of the 73 million guaranteed.

yes, we need to see the specifics - but on the surface, i think that it's too big of a deal...does the $35m guaranteed include this season? - i hope so...the guys 30 years old....

No it doesn't. He has 2 more years on current ext.

He will turn 29 Aug 22

So he will be 31 when his new deal kicks in.

Certainly wouldn't be anything the Patriots would do.

We got what turned into a bargain deal with his current ext. Albeit lucky but a good move.

So Spielman decides to overpay him for his twilight years.

Not exactly business 101

Maybe he's counting in traditional Korean. You are 1 when born then 2 when Jan. 1 rolls around. So a baby born Dec 31 is age 2 the next day.

Of all the extension options out there like front-loading the extension, Spielman apparently decides to back load it.

At least Brzez is now entirely out of the picture.

This isn't Logan's Run.

33-34 (the END of his contract) is not an age where a WR like Thielen will show much (if any) effect from aging. Especially since he took about as many hits as I did his first 2 seasons.

Edelman turns 33 next month.
Julio Jones is 30.
Antonio Brown will be 31 when the season starts.
Larry Fitzgerald will be 36 when the season starts.

Cris Carter had six 1000 yards seasons after the age of 30.

Sure, but Shades is the type of player that ages well. He's a great route runner, very good hands, excels at catching contested balls, is not overly reliant on speed and athleticism.

Injuries?

Then don't sign any player of any age to a big contract if you're afraid of injuries.

Shades has also never missed a game in his career.

Geez, what else is there to gripe about?

There is the old standby... well now that he's signed the big contract his production will probably dip. Cue angry old dude "These players nowadays, they're all the same. Money, money. Why I'd play for free, yadda, yadda."

Not griping Bill

Theilen deserves the money IMO far more than Barr. If we are going to have any kind of offense (oline ?) we are going to need this guy.

You can cheap shot me all you want your not going to get under my skin.
