Three days until the real practices.

The stink of Preifer remains strong...

Andrew Krammer@Andrew_Krammer
Rough first day of camp for #Vikings kicker Dan Bailey, who made 4 of 7 attempts, missing from 39, 41 and 47 yards during team field goal sessions.

Chad Graff@ChadGraff
Interesting end to the first full Vikings’ training camp practice. Dan Bailey missed a 47-yard field goal in the situational drill with time expiring. His third miss on seven tries. And an upset Mike Zimmer apparently made the team run as a result.

Bower is out with a torn heel. That injury sounds painful! I thought he would help us out this season.

Oh I don't know, according to Zimmer "He’s really improved throughout the offseason.”

There is something very deceptive about those statistics.

Patterson and Sherels skewed them up with returns, coverage was decent.

But the kicking game, and kicking in the clutch, there was a problem there.

Blocked punts against us especially in crucial moments was as much a problem as our atrocious kicking game that spanned three kickers.

And yet the overall special teams rating was in the top 10 five years in a row. We must have had a sensational ST coach to overcome the missed FGs and the blocked punts.

You’d think a coach of that caliber would get a promotion one of these decades huh?

Oh, crap. Here comes the blanket party for Bailey. I hope he doesn't go all Private Pyle on everybody.

Kai Forbath is a free agent. He's better than Bailey at this stage of their careers. It seems clear in hindsight that cutting Forbath was a mistake.

I wonder if the Giants could be persuaded to trade for Treadwell. Their head coach should be very familiar with him.

In this case, familiarity would make it more difficult to entice the Giants to make a trade.

Some positive spin on the Vikings on the national level. After Pelisero, wait for the following video for another.

Maalouf said he would like to have "a variety of different [returners] that are good at different things, because then we can use them in different situations. I think that keeps our opponents guessing."

claiborne made $7m last year with the jets....

It's a bit surreal to think of picking up Claiborne on a cheap deal. I remember he was talked about as a possible pick for the Vikings that year instead of Matt Kalil. Neither one of them turned out well.

Claiborne has had a couple injury plagued seasons but I remember him being pretty darn good otherwise.

Not sure how much cap room we have but we only have question marks at cb4.

Hughes was never realistically going to be ready to start the season and might be a scratch for the entire season.

According to sportrac we currently have 5ml in cap space after top 51 players.

Surprised by the multiple ligament damage being mentioned now.

People make sports wagers on their teams. It's not right that teams are not more forthright all year round about injuries.

It is reported that Scandrick, one of the corners that we worked out signed with the Eagles.

Sports teams should cater to the betting public?
