Sloter unclaimed. Maybe we dont know as much as we thought.

He will get scooped up at some point but not as a #2 like many in here swear by.

There are three teams out there with one healthy QB on the roster, including Seattle (who saw Sloter first hand two weeks ago) and Denver (that already had him on their roster) – that didn't claim him.

I think we have all been mesmerized by him in comparison to what else is here, not to a level-headed QB standard.

My question is, if we were leaning toward releasing Sloter and practice squadding Browning ... why didn't we just play Browning in the last preseason game, since he's essentially our emergency #3 now?

Maybe trade bait, I guess.

All answers point to signing our other fan favorite Taylor Heinicke.

Spielman is preaching patience in what he called "a frenzy"; trying to trade down.

Wants to go back to the days when you simply turned on the tv in week 1 and just watched the damn starters.

Worth keeping an eye on this as the dust settles from roster cuts yesterday. Matt Wile seems a long ways from settled on the Vikings' roster.

Ben Goessling added,
Andrew Krammer
@Andrew_Krammer

Wouldn't be shocked to see #Vikings make a move for a new punter/holder after two veterans, Britton Colquitt and Bryan Anger, and Matt Darr (who played for Marwan Maalouf in Miami) became available.

Look at how far behind I was...
Yea I see no one claimed him...

Fkn guy must be gay or something... because I can not see any logical reason why he is not on some nfl roster..

It has to be some sociologically biased, unspoken taboo thing.. and being gay is at the top of my list for this fn dinosaur era buncha fuks

JMO

God in all his ever fn glory forbid an openly or not closeted gay Quarterback make a name or have any tangible success in GODS NFL!...

I can't shake this nagging feeling that we will underachieve this season. I used to be a very avid supporter of Zimmer, but have doubts. On the one hand, I like that he delegates offensive playcalling duties to veteran coordinators he trusts like Norv Turner and Gary Kubiak. On the other, if it doesn't work out, it makes you look very incompetent as a Head Coach. Turner's offense was ancient and inefficient. Hopefully Kubiak will finally get the performance out of Cousins that we all believe is possible. This is a team w/ lots of offensive potential. We just need the right offensive mind to make it fully realized since Zim is so hands off of the offense, w/ the exception of stressing the run.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I respect that the Vikes just admitted defeat on a 5th round investment, cutting ties and moving on. In the past, they've stayed w/ shaky kickers to a fault. Hopefully Zim is correcting his previous blind spots.

Cousins worries me since he has been unable to dominate against upper-tier teams.

Very much agree. DO - Make mistakes trying to improve. DON'T - make mistakes waiting for improvement.

The #Lions are working out former #Vikings QB Kyle Sloter on Monday, source said. Sloter still has practice squad eligibility, so more options depending where he lands.

I don't swear he is a #2. The odds that he becomes even an average starter in this league are remote.

But why give him some play to see what you've got?

Reminds me of Gardy and Nick Punto.

There it is. Bad karma strikes again. Division opponent, ugh. Sloter will unseat Stafford, the lions will cut Stafford and save tens of millions in cap. Which they will immediately use to sign an All-Pro DE who will send Cousins to the IR. Fitting ex-Lion Reiff will be the on-the-field scapegoat.

Might as well reset our W-L predictions against them to 0-2 for the next 10-15 years.

This effectively ends the Zimmer and Spielman reign. Sept. 1, 2019.

I totally agree – I don't get it. I don't ever remember a first, second, or third teamer play that well so why not?

My post was not directed at you. What Vikings fan did not want to see Sloter get an equal shot with Mannion? Who in here is a bigger Mannion fan than Sloter fan?

Nobody. But I cannot make the jump to harakiri that some have, over this move.
