I was more disappointed in the offense’s late game third down resignations ... which is not on Zimmer. I felt it was entire series resignations. Like totally content knowing you are going to sell out to stop the run and we just want to take the time off the clock. Any PA pass or roll out even if just a basic check down likely extends a series or 2. But our metrics said that was not the way to go and to me it felt Stefanski pandering to Zimmer. You are 100% correct. Stefanski followed Zimmer's orders to the letter. Zimmer fired an OC in the middle of the season for not meeting his demands to run the football. Stefanski got aced out for this job once before. He's not about to lose it for defying Zim like his predecessor did. Maybe Stefanski is a groveling worm that only panders to Zimmer, or maybe you have about as narrow an interpretation as you can possibly come away with after a decisive run-first win. I'm not sure. Most likely – since neither you or I have any real insight into any in-game coaching conversations – Kubiak, Dennison and Stefanski came in with a run-the-falcons-to-death gameplan (with input from Zimmer sure) that worked perfectly, probably even beyond their expectation, and stuck with it. Even on 3rd down plays that fans like me would have preferred more risk taking. I don't think it's a matter of Stefanski being a groveling worm and my hyper narrow interpretation also stated that I couldn't argue with the logic in running the ball under the circumstances. I don't claim to have insider knowledge, but I don't think it takes a great mathematician to add 2 and 2. Week after week, Zimmer complained about not running the ball. Week after week, Flip continued to not run the ball and was ultimately fired during the season over it. I'm saying Stefanski is smart enough to know the boss wants to run the damn ball. He and the rest of the brain trust came up with a scheme not only do it, but do it successfully. I get frustrated hearing about 2018 Run-First Zimmer – we absolutely needed to run the ball more last year. After the 2017 NFCCG, I can understand why we were impressed with Flip and made that impulse purchase. IMO Flip wasn't the guy for the team or coaching staff in place so he needed to go. My frustration and opinions do not mean that getting snippety with you is justified. My apologies. I have a lot of problems with Zimmer ... they are big when we lose and minuscule when the defense plays like yesterday. I can see Zimmer and Spielman explaining to Stefanski that if he took the OC job, he would have to commit to a more balanced offense in 2019. Whether that is run-first and then run over and over, or, run-first to establish balance (with the pass) ... I'm pretty sure its the latter. IMO. I think everyone was frustrated last year (with the Oline). The line couldn't pass block or run block, so it didn't matter if we pass or ran more.
