I mentioned this before that some o-linemen struggle when they go from one side to the other. I'm wondering if he will do better back where he played well in college. I found this on Twitter from Courtney Cronin:

Gary Kubiak on moving Pat Elflein to right guard, where he started 25 games as a soph/junior at Ohio State: "We just took a look at it this offseason. That’s somewhere that Pat has had a comfort zone before in his football life. We talked about that and obviously we got competition going for the other guard, however we end up right there. But just a decision made through some talking through the process, talking to Pat. Talking about how we were going to get started once we came back."

I believe this is an indication that they want Cleveland to be the left guard this year and the left Tackle next year. They don't really want to mess with his side. I could be totally wrong. (Pager that was for you.)

Clarifying b/c I ran out of characters: Gladney got slot work with the 1st team defense with Hughes and Hill outside. Gladney and Dantzler played outside CB with the second team defense. Kris Boyd mixed in at RCB w/ 2s for a couple reps.

I believe we got 4 solid starting NFL caliber CBs now. Hughes, Hill, Gladney and Dantzler. We probably need at least one more. Can Boyd or Hand be that man? Will they be shifting to safety and we sign a free agent?

I don't understand the logic here. Elf sucked at center, so they moved him to LG. Elf sucked at LG, so rather than cut him loose, they give him a chance to suck at a 3rd position. Side of the field isn't the issue. Elf not being strong enough to hold the point of attack is the issue. You simply live with a guard being knocked straight back into the QB's lap whenever you run a play involving a straight drop.

it's a little weird how he drags his right foot when he fakes left...never noticed this before - with any receiver....

It's his last chance. His chance got enhanced due to the limited off-season, but he very may be gone soon. It sounds like Elflein asked for the change.

Trent Willaims should have been ours. I can't believe that match made in heaven trade didn't get worked out. After we picked Cleveland a word comes in that Williams didn't want to come here, but I don't buy that for a second.

The G equivalent of T.J. Clemmings.

Seems generally some fans have little problem wanting OL players to move around. Then when the player fails, we hear the move stunted their growth, the player never had the chance to learn a position, etc.

They can experiment with Elf, that is what camp is for, but at the end of the day a bowling pin is a bowling pin.

Coverage starts at 2:00. I believe the practice begins a bit later.

WR Bisi Johnson on rookie Justin Jefferson: "We knew coming in this guy was going to be a star and so far he's proven that." Johnson told Jefferson that his "releases were crazy" yesterday and was impressed that he was beating everyone off the line.

I think we dodged overpaying him, but I wouldn't assume he'd have suffered the same injury if he was here.

The live streaming padded practice coverage is best ever. Drone cameras, interviews, etc.

Jefferson did get some work with the first team Sunday in three-wide receiver sets. Kubiak expects the Vikings to regularly use four receivers and plans to consider “all of them as starters.’’

Adam Thielen is Minnesota’s top receiver. Competition for the next three spots also will include Tajae Sharpe and Chad Beebe.

https://www.twincities.com/2020/08/16/rookie-wr-justin-jefferson-working-with-second-unit-but-vikings-very-encouraged/

I guess that's a bit ambiguous. At first read it seems he was talking about 4 WR sets, but he could just as easily be talking about rotating 4 WRs.

Heard that they were televising today, also
Thought "wow, we are hard up for some live sports action"
Then said internally … "shut up, dumbass, and enjoy"

I honestly was pretty bored with the coverage. I wanted to see the action and they kept showing the faces of the talking heads. They could have done that on the radio. Also, the action was milquetoast. No live tackling and I didn't see one on one drills. Now, I have to admit that I fell asleep watching it, but I did record it, so perhaps there was something near the end. Sorry for my negativity, but my expectations were a bit too high. I will look for Twitter commentary now and perhaps I will find things more interesting to me.

The Vikings had tryouts/workouts today for veteran safety Jahleel Addae and linebackers Hardy Nickerson and Derrick Moncrief, per the NFL wire.

Nickerson spent the past three years with the Bengals, making nine starts. Moncrief is a former CFL guy who was most recently with the Raiders.

(Will Ragatz on Twitter)

Signing Nickerson Jr. to replace Poling would make sense. He had a couple tackles for the Illini in a big #Gophers 2016 win in Champaign. Has spent the last 3 years with the Bengals. #Vikings
