Harrison Smith, Mike Hughes, and undrafted rookie Nevelle Clarke had strong days for the #Vikings secondary in today's practice.
Clarke had multiple pass breakups. The UCF product is looking to work his way up the depth chart at corner.

Here's a Dantzler highlight. The guy looks really good. I mean, he's covering Thielen here.

https://twitter.com/tanishkamascara/status/1295466081797251079?s=20

Biggest cornerback takeaway from the first three practices might be summed up as: Cameron Dantzler EyesEyes

(Matthew Coller with a seperate Tweet)

The Cameron Dantzler hype train is picking up steam.
He made the best play of today's practice with a full-extension PBU on a deep pass intended for Adam Thielen.
"Adam came up to me during practice today and said 27's gonna be really good," Mike Zimmer just said on the radio.

From what I can see dantzler is the only corner hanging with thielen in practice. Serious shot at CB1 with gladney being in and out

(Deshawn Vaughan NFL on Twitter)

Dantzler got those CB1 skills
been saying it since day one

(Luke Inman on Twitter)

Adam Thielen apparently came up to Mike Zimmer today at practice and told him '27 is gonna be really good'
That's Cameron Dantzler.
Dantzler played Alabama and LSU last season + allowed 21 passing yards in those 2 games combined. Dude can cover.

Not many TEs can easily shake Eric Kendricks in coverage. Nice route from Irv Smith Jr. here:

If there’s one area for concern with me was back up edge. Didn’t see anyone stand out, not hearing about anyone setting themselves apart. Did enjoy seeing Jaleel have a good day tho

Vikings twitters last 100 tweets have been about Dantzler but this is extremely solid from Hughes (video)

Hill has a very nice rep against bisi after being put on the highlight type

(Deshawn Vaughan NFL on Twitter)

My comment: it feels like there's going to be an improvement in the CB play this season. I mean big time, but it was just one practice.

I'm in good company with my earlier comments:

What I miss about preseason football: watching the players
What I don't miss: listening to the announcers talking about the players
Guess what the Vikings live broadcast training camp practice is all about Expressionless face

Two pass breakups today by CB Nevelle Clarke, an intriguing and confident undrafted Vikings rookie.

Nice double move and catch through contact by UDFA WR Dan Chisena against CB Marcus Sayles. (video clip)

Chesena has been turning some heads. He might make the practice squad.

I know I've been chiming repeatedly about how this is a bad year for rookies with the limited off-season. I may have to modify that a bit with this:

This may be the best rookie crop every for the Purple. That's a serious reason to be optimistic if true.

He got on Thielens Hip and that pass never had a prayer of being completed. Just one play, but a very impressive play. He made Thielen look slow.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Vikings secondary will be better than last year.

The QB got the pass off no trouble, but I think Herc got by him pretty easy.

This is the Twitter that Bruce linked earlier and I commented on. It's only one play, but what a nice play. He's defending all pro WR Thielen and owns him on this play. Made him look slow.

Edit: On further examination Thielen had to slow down for the pass.

I'm going to disagree with you. (respectfully) Cleveland forced him to go very wide and it looked effortless to me.

I admit that I might be premature with this comment, but it is based on what I'm reading about Dantzler and Clarke today. Jefferson looks like the real deal and Gladney and Cleveland may contribute early, too. But it's fair to say let's see how they do tomorrow.

The rep with Cleveland and Hercules looked like Herc backed off the gas pedal after getting close to the pocket. Nobody wants to be the guy to jack up the Qb right now. It’s hard to put much stock into anything happening in the trenches on day one of full pads-grab ass.

I watched the full training camp production. It sucked like I thought it would. Kind of like the second half of preseason games when the “production” wants to sideline interview everyone and their brother while letting Paul Allen pontificate about nonsense. Brutal. Although, just like being at training camp in person and they watch people like a hawk to prevent filming, Zimmer and Spielman don’t want everyone to see what they are doing and who looks good. Makes it hard to hide players..

This is a weird year and it pisses me off. COVID is a wet fart ruining everything. It’s like strolling out in fresh pair of grunders and pushing a turd you thought was a fart. 2020 is stupid. I loved the excitement and anticipation of training camp and preseason games as a way to build up to the start of the season. Instead, much like Charlie Brown trick or treating, I got a rock......

Dantzler makes me think of Matt Blair. He was the second LB selected by the Vikings in 1974, but he was the one that was extra special. Dantzler was the second CB drafted by the Vikings this year. It's way too early, but he might be the one that is extra special.
