I believe the starting line against GB will be Hill at LT, Dozier at LG, Bradbury, Elf at RG and O'Neil at RT. It's the least disruptive combination and only Elf is playing in a spot he hasn't played in for the Vikings. Give them two weeks to iron it out and let it go. Next year the Vikings will have to take another guard since Samia isn't working out, but that shit happens, not everyone works out.

I don't see Hill starting. They like him as a backup because he can play both tackle positions. He isn't stater quality on either side. Moving O'Neill makes more sense to me.

Agreed

My guess is if Hill does start at RT it won't be long before Udoh replaces him.

Whatever happened to Art?
Didn’t he drop from the board as a protest against the signings of Reiff / Remmers?
At the very least he was outraged.

I thought it was over Case Keenum.

It was actually over the acrimony (football related) that drove off so many posters, especially TOE.

I still don't understand it. Favre was the best choice that year and Kirk still was a better choice over Case. Case had his best season ever but he hasn't done anything since.

Favre was Art’s departure part one.

We’re currently in part deux.

The highlights of the offense I’ve seen with O’Neill at LT only show Rashod Hill at RT.

Add in Dozier, and Elflein at Guards takes quite a bit of sheen off the acquisition of Ngakoue for me.

Hope I’m wrong, but even at the heights of Zimmer’s defenses in Minnesota we eventually were taken down by the collapse of our OLine in the playoffs.

Was hoping at least ONE of our young OLineman would emerge, and that we could acquire another solid veteran to complete a rebuild on the fly.

Not seeing it.

I think Reiff was gone no matter what. They are cutting Reiff to make room for an OG is what I think. They lucked into another All-Pro DE. Cap was tight before they acquired the DE....this is to create room for another move. Signing Harris/Cook or a OG.

As mentioned earlier I wouldn't be surprised to see Stephen cap lowered and Gedeon cut.

Oli Udoh has a wingspan of over 7 feet. Isn't the free throw line 10 feet from the hoop? I digress. He belongs at tackle. Also, despite his massive size he tested at the 89th percentile for the 40 at the combine and 66th percentile for the broad jump. Let's go!

I hope you’re right Phil. Other then Kline (Who was pretty good for us) not sure who on the cheap is still available?

I heard on NFL that there’s still talk of Snacks Harrison out there for us. We do still need a plugger.

Dozier and Elf would have been at guard regardless of Yannick's acquisition. We had 12M in cap before the move and not a whisper of trying out guards or signing a vet. Massively disappointing that Samia hasn't seemed to take a step forward and Udoh not given play at G.

The real question: is the drop off from Reiff (if there is one) and the overall T play worth Yannick? T might be our deepest position. Our D line had real question marks. Ifeadi was productive inside and now we've got three strong edge rushers.

It's never a good sign when people are trying to figure out the starters on the offensive line 12 days from the opener.

Just saw the highlights of todays practice, was only able to isolate one rep of OL vs DL, Oneil was at LT.

Could you tell who was at RT?

No the view was from the left, too many bodies in the way.

Most sane people came to the realization that a guard combo of Elf and Kline wasn't good enough. We remedied that by going with Elf and Kline's backup. I actually have more faith in our ability to field a pair of decent tackles than I do in our guard play.

Just waiting for another good deal. Maybe trade Reiff for a guard? I was trying to say they had cap space to absorb new DE.....think they are trying to have the best team possible and with Cleveland, O'Neil, Udoh, and Hill OT is good. Wondering if Elflein isn't a cut also. I would Cut Reiff (8), Elflein (2.1), Stephen (1.3), and Gedeon (800k) at this point....Would give us enough cap space to get an OG or/or resign Cook/Harris. Would free up 12 million. Restructuring Reiff and Stephen works too.

I don't see anyone trading for Reiff to pay him over 10M (and over 11M next year).

And I also don't see Reiff making more money(somewhere else) than our discounted rate.

But, he has enough money in the bank and probably doesn't want to stay somewhere he is not wanted.

I wonder why Reiff is still on the team. Maybe we were just trying to trick him into a pay cut and he called our bluff.

The #Vikings are finalizing a restructured contract with left tackle Riley Reiff, sources tell me and @RapSheet. One day after Reiff was offered a pay cut and said goodbye to teammates, he’s back and the O-line stays intact.

Tom Pelissero on Twitter

My question:. Will Reiff be motivated with less pay?

Answer from Ludford:

Yes, he's a pro. Also needs good tape because he's not likely to be a Viking next season.

I'm actually kind of disappointed. Reiff is as worthless as goose shit on a pump handle.

I'm guessing his agent A) could not find anyone willing to trade for him and B) was unable to get assurances Reiff would make more on the open market than what the pay cut offered.

I doubt it. Wasn't he struggling when they tried him out at Guard?

I suppose this way, they don't have to reshuffle the line 12 days before the first game.

Dom Capers worked with Yannick Ngakoue in Jacksonville last year. Zimmer said they got his feedback.

"We obviously talked to Dom about him not only as a football player, but as a person. If he would fit in right w/ the culture that we have here. So yeah, it was another factor."

I think you are seeing a bit of this going on right now. With COVID and the potential for the season to be canceled, it would seem that players have lost a bit of leverage. I.e...Leonard Fornette.
