The highlights of the offense I’ve seen with O’Neill at LT only show Rashod Hill at RT.

Add in Dozier, and Elflein at Guards takes quite a bit of sheen off the acquisition of Ngakoue for me.

Hope I’m wrong, but even at the heights of Zimmer’s defenses in Minnesota we eventually were taken down by the collapse of our OLine in the playoffs.

Was hoping at least ONE of our young OLineman would emerge, and that we could acquire another solid veteran to complete a rebuild on the fly.

Not seeing it.

Dozier and Elf would have been at guard regardless of Yannick's acquisition. We had 12M in cap before the move and not a whisper of trying out guards or signing a vet. Massively disappointing that Samia hasn't seemed to take a step forward and Udoh not given play at G.

The real question: is the drop off from Reiff (if there is one) and the overall T play worth Yannick? T might be our deepest position. Our D line had real question marks. Ifeadi was productive inside and now we've got three strong edge rushers.

Perhaps worded poorly,
Going after a stud like Ngakoue when we put so little towards an obvious hole in our roster is disappointing to me.
Yes we filled a hole on the DLine for sure. Need the D-tackles to step up, but I feel good with our overall defense as it stands.

Depending on the number I might be more disappointed with restructure of Reiff than a cut....I think there will be an OG out there that could help. Gives us a little more time to get Cleveland/Udoh acclimated somewhere....

The only downside is that we aren't going to find out if O'Neill can be as good at LT as he is at RT, and if Udoh can be a stud at RT. Going into GB starting 4 players at different positions than they played last year, or in the case of Udoh barely played at all, and a Center who underperformed could have been grim. At least we're starting the season with the 5 olineman who have been working together in training camp.

I don't think we would have had a fair assessment anyway with less than two weeks of practice.

i think it's just too late in the summer to try to fit a new guy into reiff's slot...if they made the o'neill to lt commitment in a normal offseason and he starting preparing in may we'd probably be okay with the line shuffle, but not in early september....

If Reiff plays at an "average" LT level of play for reduced pay I guess it's fair compensation. It's just that I was hoping for above average, especially when the interior line prospects look so suspect.

I think the lack of preseason games messes this up.

This ended up being a really good offseason not to have a lot of change.

it would not surprise me if we learn that the vikes have done something with harrison smilth's contract along with reiff's to make it all easier....

Oli Udoh reportedly will only be a RT, so he will not be an option for guard. Per Dennison

Of course not. He'd unseat Elf in about 2 practices and we can't allow that.

I don't think we are going with our best 5 lineman.

I assume Reiff's agent spent the last 24 hours checking the market. They are agreeing to to a restructure because its either the same or more than what Reiff would have found on the open market.

Joe Mixon just got a 4/48 extension with the Bengals.

Probably a decent comp to Cook (other than games played).

Cook: 3 years, 29 games, 457/2104/17, 4.6 Y/A. 104/914/2, 8.8 Y/R
Mixon: 3 years, 44 games, 693/2931/17, 4.2 Y/A. 108/870/4, 8.1 Y/R

Be VERY interesting to see the numbers. How much guaranteed, base, incentives.

I'm ok with a similar deal, but nothing more than 8M base, and about 16-20M guaranteed. Rest needs to be Roster bonus, games played, etc

It's a legit question to wonder why the #Vikings decided to give up a 2nd round pick and a conditional 5th round pick that can go as high as a 3rd for Yannick Ngakoue+$12 million in salary when Jadeveon Clowney is still a FA.
Clowney is a better player against the run too.

(Dov Kleiman on Twitter)

What do we say to that other than Clowney gets hurt a lot and is asking for more money.

Very weird that Seattle reported to have signed Clowney to an extension but doesn't now....Texans were happy to get rid of him. Something there that teams don't like in personality.

#Vikings OL coach Rick Dennison on the growth of Garrett Bradbury:

“He’s probably made the biggest step... He really does take command. He’s no longer asking questions he’s making suggestions, which I love... He’s become very vocal and has really taken hold of the group.”

I hope he takes command of the DT bull rushing him.

Not sure I like the idea keeping Rieff even at a reduced rate.

Unless they plan to move him to LG.

I'm actually kind of disappointed. Reiff is as worthless as goose shit on a pump handle.

I 100% disagree with you. Good news that we were able to get him on a discount.

It's funny, ya know I thought I could come in here(which I haven't for some time) to possibly get some inteligent insight about the signing of our shiny new DE
but instaed I get two days worth of politics. You know you'd get more people under the blanketts if you'd quit shitting the bed.

If the reports are true and the offensive line is having problems in the middle, reducing Rieff's pay and keeping the tackle situation stock from last year makes a lot of sense. We've talked about the level of play you get from Reiff, not spectacular, but just a tad above average. This is a screwed up year, really nothing you can do about it. Trying to keep some sort of chemistry is what you'd expect by most teams at this point. I am hoping he's coming in around $6 or 7 million, that would be fair to both team and player and, as I mentioned, allow for the least amount of shakeup less than two weeks from kickoff.

I'm excited that we were able to keep Reiff and save cap space at the same time. Most Excellent Development.

What it really boils down to for me and our interior offensive line is functional strength. Bradbury is a smart guy and pretty solid athlete, but he lacked the strength to go against NFL DT's, it was the same for Elf and to some degree Dozier. We will get an early indicator of the strength of these guys against GB. Clark is going to be a solid measuring stick as to if our anxiety is warranted or not.

We've gotten back on track. Sorry that I was a big participant in the crap you had to go through.

Hmmm.. That's a bit surprising. He's a pretty dynamic rb. 81 catches 3 years straight

He's holding out and wants a massive contract.

15ml I read

I think the Saints are in bad shape cap wise already.

But Kamara is similar to CMC and is a good route runner.

That’s what it boils down to. But is that kind of money going to be out there? We’re in kind of unknown territory as far as money is concerned.
