https://thevikingage.com/2020/02/18/report-minnesota-vikings-looking-move-diggs/

On Tuesday, Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd said on his radio show that, “Minnesota is looking to move off (Diggs) for the right pick,” and the receiver is, “unhappy,” with the Vikings.

Cowherd = 0 credibility.

Diggs is our biggest and best weapon on offense. We don't use him enough.

Trading Diggs would IMO be idiotic.

Especially considering his real value vs. his perceived value.

David F mentioned in an archived thread that the Broncos fired John Fox despite a stellar 46-18 record as head coach in Denver. When one reads the below analysis regarding that decision, it's easy to draw parallels to Zimmer and the Vikings:

https://milehighmaniac.com/2015/01/12/denver-broncos-parted-ways-john-fox/

Or Kyle Shanahan. Or Sean Mkvay. Or ...

Except that Shanahan and Mkvay are .500 or better in the playoffs and Zimmer and Fox (with Denver) are/were below .500. That's not to mention big games in the regular season as well.

Shanahan 2-1, McVay 2-2, Zimmer 2-3. Its hard to argue your point, since Zimmer has more losses with more chances (seasons).

I will say the difference in the playoff records - which really aren’t THAT big a difference - bother me less than the way we have lost 2 out of three. Disheartening.

Are those road losses any worse than what Shanahan has done in key roles for arguably the 2 biggest Super Bowl chokes of all time? Or the Rams Super Bowl performance in the 2018 season a 13-3 loss?

Shanahan and McVay have both made it to the Super Bowl within their first 3 seasons.

Are you saying not getting to the Super Bowl is better than getting there and losing?

Just drawing parallels, big moment chokes.

I thought this was interesting.

Jacoby Brissett got paid $250,000 less than Kirk Cousins this last year.

Jared Goff was paid $5.5M more than Cousins.

Don’t get pissed at the Vikings for successfully identifying the market for starting quarterbacks.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero said it is currently a long shot for the Vikings to part ways with Stefon Diggs.
Diggs has expressed frustration with the team, particularly with Kirk Cousins, but that doesn't mean the Vikings are done with him. Minnesota feels that they're close to a title, so trading their stud receiver away would essentially close out their championship window. Pelissero still expects teams to call the Vikings about a trade but notes things are unlikely to go anywhere at the momemnt. Things could change, especially if Diggs continues to drum up attention off the field in the next couple of months, but for now, Diggs is likely back in Minnesota as a WR2 in fantasy.

In that light Cousins is clearly not overpaid, but did we identify the market or did we set the market?

Everson Griffen voiding contract. He will be a free agent.

Someone will give him big money. We can't.

Griffin had a players option? I thought he played pretty well last year. I will miss him.

Now that Everson Griffen -- who sources said has voided the final 3 years of his deal -- is set to hit free agency, we'll see if he is interested in returning to the Vikings or testing his market. Keep an eye on Seattle: Griffen could reunite with Pete Carroll (his college coach)

No, it was set beforehand with the Jimmy G contract.

We still have Hunter. Please please please Vikings don't do a 'Vikings thing' and draft a DE in the first round. Please.

IMO Diggs is a 3 or 4 game losing streak away from being toxic as hell.

Another way to say that is that if the team were to underperform expectations in a major way the competitive spirit of our best offensive weapon may get the better of him.

The 'Vikings thing' is to panic and draft the position of the guy you just lost.

Seems to be.

I do believe that our antiquated philosophy of football impacts our entire draft process.

And since I'm speaking of process, ours doesn't make sense. Spend up for a good QB and give him just two WR's? Does that make sense to anybody?

One thing for sure, we will over value RB's and TE's, then blame the failures on the O-Line.

I think we are going to discover what Smith and Mattison are......not worthy of 2nd and 3rd.

Teams win Super Bowls without wasting valuable resources on these positions.

We think we can defend our way to the Super Bowl? The game has changed. The rules have changed. Keep up.

Invest in a QB....good, since we can't seem to identify and develop one. How about putting him in a position to succeed? You know, tax a secondary with a multitude of athletic pass catchers. Protect him. Find those guys and coach them up.

Run first and stop the run.

I would hope by now everybody realizes how silly that sounds.

They very well could lose their top three CBs (and one of those is no big loss to be fair). It feels a lot like another first round CB for Zim.

Regarding CBA players vote on today.

Rosters would increase to 48 players from 46 on gameday, with overall rosters going to 55 from 53; practice squads would increase to 14 players in 2022, and 12 this year, up from 10.

Teams would be allowed to bring back 3 players from IR.

plus seven playoff teams per conference - only the #1 seed gets a bye....

In exchange for 17 games.

I'd agree on the RB point.

However, you had arguably the best 2 TE in the league in the superbowl.

Mahomes/Kelce are basically the sole reason why KC was able to get by the Texans.

TE threat is a big part of winning in todays NFL .

We might have one in Irv Smith Jr. and we might not. We did very little to find out in 2019. I anticipate it will take a Rudolph retirement or injury to see Smith Jr. get the kind of usage it would take to find out if he's any good.

I wanted to know what an "x-receiver" was. I learned about that and more. This is a good kind of article to read during the off-season.
