ORIGINAL: Pager It's an interesting conversation. I'm curious how many viking players live with their extended families - parents, etc. The testing seems robust. Our experience at our hospital, we test everyone prior to them getting a surgery, is 7 positive tests in 3500 tests. We don't see a lot of asymptomatic carriers. Me, selfishly, I want the season to happen. The draft had record viewership. I think TV numbers will be sky high and many ppl will want the distraction. I don't worry too much about the product - unless entire units go down and it creates just massive unfair competition. Which is certainly possible. But I certainly get the other side of things. On the test numbers... say a person contracts COVID-19 but the person is basically fine. Isn't it true that after such time, the swab test will not be able to pick up any virus in the nose/mouth (hence a negative test result)? But, that person has the virus in their system. So can it get passed to another person? As someone who had Covid and was tested twice in the hospital I believe that is not the case. The test will be positive even if the player is asymptomatic. Nevertheless, it is also fair to say that the reason they tested me twice was because they wanted to make double sure. Perhaps there's some margin for error. I had to have two consecutive negative tests in order to be released, so I was sweating the second test because if it was positive my stay in the hospital would have been prolonged. OK, you had two negative tests. But as someone who had COVID, are they saying the COVID is entirely (within reason for this question) gone from your body? I guess it's that you have the antibodies? Or enough of them to tamp down the virus?? I specifically asked the hospital doctor if I had the antibodies. He said that that is a separate test. I was interested because I was thinking that I probably should donate plasma now and help someone else who is in trouble. My family doctor told me that since I had Covid as long as I did there is no doubt that I have the anti-bodies. So to answer your question, the test that I received specifically checked to see if I still the virus inside of me. It is the same test that everybody else is getting these days where they stick something down your nose. It's not pleasant.
