Simmons suspended for the opener.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/32430529/philadelphia-76ers-suspend-ben-simmons-their-season-opener

Looking like this isn't going to end well

Not sure anyone other than Rivers and Morey thought it would end well.

They're as delusional as Thibs was during the Jimmy Butt-head fiasco.

They're following a similar path, practice uproar and all.

Curious what the Wolves offered for Simmons.

I think it's worth the risk. Wolves have stunk for about 2 generations.

It's hard to know what exactly was offered. Basketball writers start speculating about what the price a given player will be and suddenly people assume that those players were actually offered. The rumors were that Rosas went after Simmons harder than anyone else. The consensus also seems to be that the Sixers were being utterly ridiculous with their asking price.

Looks like Simmons is doing what Butler did and trying to make the situation untenable for the Sixers. Unless he suddenly caves, they will be forced to drop the price at some point and then we will find out how realistic the Wolves chances are.

LeBron and AD got absolutely no help from the rest of the roster last night. Westbrook, in particular, was awful.

Going to be interesting to see if all the new players can get on the same page. And hopefully the Big 2 won't have to play 40 minutes every night...

They have a lot of guys that historically kinda need the ball to be effective.

The deadline where all the buyout players go wherever they want will be key to the Lakers playoff chances.

We've reached the next phase of the Ben Simmons drama: he has back tightness and won't play for the foreseeable future:

Much of the rest of the roster is injured and not playing.

So Enes Kanter averaged a double double last year and is getting multiple DNP-Coaches Decision this year with a struggling Celtics team.

Maybe China does control the NBA.

Looks like the Celtics might be interested in trading Brown for Simmons.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/ben-simmons-trade-rumors-celtics-interested-in-76ers-star-would-have-to-part-with-jaylen-brown-per-report/

It's rather remarkable how mediocre the Celtics have become. Just a few years ago, they had a great young core and a trove of picks to build upon.

What's the community's sense on the punishment coming for LeBron?

I'm of mixed feelings on the one-game suspension for LeBron. On the one hand, I think it's light. Maybe the most notable comparison was JR Smith's episode with Jae Crowder 6 years ago where he was suspended a couple games. But Metta World Peace got 7 games for the elbow he delivered to James Harden 12 or so years ago. Of course, he had a colorful history...

On the other hand, a suspension for any number of games is a kinda binary thing. I figured the league would give him some modest fine because of his special rules. Surprised they went through with any suspension, to be honest.

Yeah. On the surface, that seems like BS, right? The guy that throws the "punch" gets one game and the guy with the bloody face gets two. But you can't have a dude rampaging through the arena. I'm good with Stewart getting two based upon his raging.

But Bron shoulda got two or three, I think.

LBJ didn't throw a "punch". Yeah, one game. That was pretty much the prediction and the result.

And Metta's elbow wasn't in the same stratosphere so there is no point of comparison.

Stewart deserved a greater suspension in the sense his tirade makes the league look really bad.

The last thing the geriatric Lakers need is OT games. I'm surprised they hung around into the 3rd OT even if it was against the Kings.

They may be experimenting and find enough to succeed in the regular season, but then the playoffs will start.

The Griz beat the Thunder by 73 points. 73. Where does a team even go from there? How do they look their fans in the eye?

And Memphis isn’t even that great, and were missing Ja Morant. Hell the Wolves beat them by 43. Does that mean we can beat OKC by 116?

That Thunder team had maybe 1.5 players available who would get playing time on a decent team (Lu Dort, maybe Mike Muscala).

I know it’s a bit of an overused joke to say a team ran a G-League roster out there, but they basically ran a G-League roster out there.

Kyrie Irving or the Nets can pay about $100K in fines and he can play the Home games through the end of the season.

Grayson Allen's storied history adds another chapter of cheapshots and smirks.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33124289/chicago-bulls-g-alex-caruso-surgery-fractured-wrist-6-8-weeks-says-team

How do people feel about him? Would you want him on the Wolves? Would you be able to cheer for him?

Seems a bit harsh. But my point is that I have a hard time rooting for a team when players pull that crap.

Great deal for the Nets:

Simmons, Curry, Drummond and 2 1st round picks for Harden and Millsap.
