Agreed. Seems like a good move for Dallas. They get a useful player and clear the books of some flotsam and jetsam. At the cost of s as low first round pick.

Status: offline 		It's going to be an interesting situation to watch.

Woods always puts up good numbers, but has had issues staying engaged on defense and his numbers never lead to wins. And he seems to wear out his welcome every year or two.

Now that he's finally on a good team, it'll be fun to see if he thrives.

(And also find out if I've been brilliant or an idiot for wanting to trade for him for years...)

Status: offline 		I'm leaning towards brilliant. I was hoping the Wolves would have gone after him, just from seeing him this past year. The Mavs got him for a fairly small return, I was disappointed. Still lots of options, it will be interesting to see how the draft plays out.

Status: offline 		I'm mystified by one Andrew Wiggins. Never did he even try to play defense as a Wolf let alone completely shutting down a guy like Tatum.

Did we completely miscast him?

Or being this a contract year for him that he tried and will revert back to being drowsy on the court after getting paid?

Perhaps had Finch had a chance with him and with Edwards now in the fold he would have fit in better.

Status: offline 		Tatum shut himself down. He shot the same percent when guarded by Wiggins and when not guarded by Wiggins. He came up real small.

Wiggins is who he always was. He's still only engaged part of the time, but he's on a team with so much talent, that they can get by without him for big stretches of games. As much as Warriors fans want to crow about him now, they were all ready to dump him during that long stretch after the ASG when GS had injuries and needed Wigs to step up and absolutely couldn't.

The only difference between MN Wigs and GS Wigs is he's asked to do a lot less on offense, so he takes fewer, but much better shots. As far as defense, Wigs was always a fine man-defender. He just can't grasp team defense concepts, so that's where he'd get lost. GS schemes for that by trying to not have Wigs ever switch off his man.

Reminds me of Mark Landsberger out of Mounds View/U of M, about 35-40 years ago. At the U he was a smooth shooting forward, basically did nothing but shoot the ball from the outside (before the 3 pointer) and didn't play a lick of defense. Couldn't cut it in the NBA in that role, he turned into a classic junk yard dog, did nothing but play defense, hack, and rebound.

ESPN Sources: Outside of the Lakers, there are currently no known teams planning pursuit of sign-and-trades for Nets G Kyrie Irving. No sign-and-trades can be formally discussed until after 6 PM on Thursday. Brooklyn isn't believed to have interest in available Lakers packages.

If Irving declines his $36M player option, he would be eligible to sign with the Lakers for the $6M exception. Deadline is Wednesday to decide on option.

Seems a bit foolish that they didn't trade him and recoup some assets for a rebuild. I suppose they still could but that salary isn't helping.

It wasn’t a surprise that the league changed the penalty on take fouls; Silver told The Associated Press in early June that it would change, though he cautioned that the new rule might still be tweaked in future years.

The take foul — in which the defender does not make a play on the ball — is what the league classifies as one that occurs either “during a transition scoring opportunity or immediately following a change of possession and before the offensive team had the opportunity to advance the ball.” The exception is in the final 2 minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime.

I've never understood why players don't go for the ball when trying to intentionally foul anyway. What's the worst that can happen? You might get a jump ball or steal out of it if you're lucky. Or you'll get called for a foul which is what you wanted anyway.

My motto for intentionally fouling was, pretend you're not playing basketball. There's a guy holding something and you want to take it away from him any way you can. How would you go about it?

You have to. You can't afford to lose the asset for nothing.

He can still be traded to any team by Indy this year with his permission, or anywhere at all next year.

Status: offline 		It worked out really well for the Suns, as they didn't want to sign him to a designated rookie max 5 year deal, as that brings a number of limitations:

First, you can only have two of those players at one time, and Booker is still under his for 2 more years. That means that until Booker signs his next contract they wouldn't have been able to sign or acquire anyone under a designated rookie max.

You also can only ever have one player at a time that you trade for while under a designated rookie max.

So now the Suns can acquire a second designated rookie max contract while keeping Ayton and Booker.

And the Suns can trade Ayton to a team like the Nets who have already acquired another designated rookie max player (Simmons) through trade, and/or have two of them on the team already.

The Nets and Celtics entered trade discussions for Kevin Durant, per @ShamsCharania

Boston reportedly offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a draft pick for Durant, but the Nets also wanted Marcus Smart, more draft picks and potentially one more rotation player
