Mel Kiper Jr. just dropped an interesting note on a Zoom call he's doing with our NFL Nation group.

"I wouldn’t be shocked if 40 cornerbacks are drafted."

Vikings still have a need behind Peterson, Gladney, Dantzler and Hughes. Sounds like Day 3 could yield a lot of picks.

Supposedly, Parsons has character issues. Still probably won't drop to us.

Good news is he maybe drops an OLineman to us.

I say we just go with one offensive lineman (a center) and see if the defense can cover the nine guys going out for passes.

I just read an article that mentioned possible teams that could trade up to the number 1 spot for Lawrence, and they listed the Bears and Lions.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, let's hope Lawrence doesn't end up in the North division.

I could see New England or San Francisco making the move, or maybe Carolina.

If you're Jacksonville how can you trade back from a franchise quarterback no matter what the offers are? All those teams are outside looking in to get into the quarterback derby of, if not Lawrence, a quarterback who has the potential to be special- to be the name of the franchise for years to come. The only way I could see it is if the Jaguars like three quarterbacks about the same and one of those teams made a trade with Miami for the third pick.

Looking at the trade value chart, the Lions would have to offer their first, second and fourth just to get up to pick three. Actually, that may not even be enough. That's actually a possibility, but that wouldn't even net Lawrence. Then to get from third to Jacksonville they would have to offer a future first and second and maybe their third round of this year. Again, that might not be enough because it's Lawrence. So they would trade their first, second, third, fourth, (basically the meat of this year's draft plus a first and second of next years draft. That's for the Lions who have Goff now, but the Panthers who would be even more desperate, but have to include more.

In the final analysis, Jacksonville, who holds all the cards would probably say no dice because this is Lawrence and he's our future.

While I think you're probably right Bill, Fields was a Buckeye when Meyer still worked there. If Meyer thinks Fields is also a franchise QB [and maybe he thinks Lawrence will end up getting hurt if he runs too much in the NFL], he drafts Fields and makes a monumental haul for his rebuild. Or he could wait until next year, and trade up for his franchise QB.

Detroit would gain instant fan excitement with Lawrence.

Let's just assume they pick up a defensive end and a guard yet in free agency- either soon or after June 1st. They currently have ten draft picks and let's assume that doesn't change either. What position breakdowns would you expect in the draft?

-Clearly at least one offensive lineman and we might as well assume two, if not three.
-One wide receiver- hopefully one that can return punts.
-One tight end to replace Rudolph on the roster.
-One defensive end who can rush the passer.
-One cornerback.
-Two safeties
-one linebacker
-one running back

That's ten.

A quarterback is a possibility. If so, then the running back may have to come from UFA.

What do you think?

Not sold on Aloe Vera so pick someone else or trade down and get another pick(s) before drafting him.

Or trade down and maneuver more to pick two guards in the second round.

Offensive Line

Starting O-line has featured senior left tackle Alex Leatherwood (12 starts), redshirt senior left guard Deonte Brown (12 starts), redshirt senior center Landon Dickerson (11 starts), redshirt sophomore Emil Ekiyor Jr. (12 starts) and sophomore right tackle Evan Neal (11 starts), while redshirt senior Chris Owens has one start at center and one start at right tackle.

Alabama's starting offensive line has only allowed quarterback Mac Jones to be sacked nine times in 12 games on 379 drop backs, or one sack per 42.1 drop backs, while Jones leads the nation in passing efficiency (203.0).

The Crimson Tide ranks second nationally in rushing touchdowns with 35 (2.92 per game) while ranking fourth in the SEC in rushing offense (185.7 ypg).

The Alabama offensive front has blocked for the nation's top-ranked Power Five scoring offense (48.2 ppg), the No. 1 pass efficiency offense (198.48) and No. 5 total offense (535.0).

The Crimson Tide offensive line features consensus All-Americans and leading candidates for the Outland Trophy (Alex Leatherwood) and Rimington Trophy (Landon Dickerson).

The veteran group boasts 126 career starts and their play has been the catalyst behind Alabama's three Heisman Trophy candidates Najee Harris, Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith.

The Joe Moore Award voting committee judges solely on six criteria: toughness, effort, teamwork, consistency, technique and finishing and is the only award in college football that celebrates a group or unit.

It's really looking like five of the spots ahead of the Vikings will be used on QB. They could have several great options at #14.

In general, yes, double your odds.

Dickerson is an injury risk so take Brown and Leatherwood. Did they miss any games? Get Dickerson later, and if healthy he is the best of them. Those three on the IOL? OMG.

Brown was 365 at the Senior Bowl. Yeah, go ahead and bull rush him.

These dudes were top of the heap in high school and in college.

The Jags have to come away with a franchise quarterback. If they trade back it would have to be with the Jets. That would be if they can't decide which quarterback they prefer. That could still happen, but not likely.

It's really looking like five of the spots ahead of the Vikings will be used on QB. They could have several great options at #14.

If the TE from Florida and the Bama RB kill it at their Pro days, we could be sitting pretty. Also, 3 WRs should be picked before us.
