The real issue here is what will Spielman do to recoup the 4th. Then again he has the 6th to flount around.

2020 Chris Herndon (his disappointment year) 31 catches for 287 yards and 3 TDs

2020 Kyle Rudolph 28 catches for 334 yards and 1 TD

Herndon will fill in just fine.

Lots of drops and lots of fumbles is what I read made the year disappointing.

From what I've been reading ...

he's been a disappointment but like Smith, hasn't been used the right way and on a team without our offensive weapons.

We'll just have to wait to see how he adapts (or doesn't).

Herndon had 4 fumbles on 71 receptions

5.6%..

Meh.. he will be ok..

Overpaid?

At this point.. Spielman is trying to save his job, he doesn’t care about future low round draft picks..

Some Viking draft picks from the past released by other teams:

Laquon Treadwell, Ifeadi Odenigbo, Shamar Stephen, Jaleel Johnson, Willie Beavers, Danny Isidora, Colby Gossett, MyCole Pruitt, Elijah Lee

and Holton Hill (UDFA)

I likely missed one or two, maybe more.

Are you new?

Trade back to get more 4+ round picks and pass on better players because they are vise grip locked on a particular whiff who keeps dropping…

By 2022 draft day, Spielman will have 5- 7 of those oh so important, 4 th round or lower picks, in his pocket or he will trade back until he does.

Why sign Grif and then cut him 7 days later

The IR stash maneuver. Nobody else wanted to sign him, and nobody will claim him because he doesn't want to play elsewhere. So give that roster spot to someone who will be on the 53 so they can be stashed on the quick-return IR (instead of done for the year if they don't make the 53), and finally re-sign Griffen if you need him.

Makes sense.

Probably similar move regarding Abdullah after they IR Nene. Usually we carry up to 4 RB's on the 53.

Abdullah has become a valuable gunner. better than Chisnea

Read elsewhere vested veterans aren't subjected to the waiver wire and become a FA. So there is probably some wink wink agreements with guys like Grif and Abdullah.

I thought Stephens cemented his roster spot after blowing up Dozier in PS. Guess everybody elso knows Dozier is hot garbage.

Looking at the starters on a pyramid

RB, both WRs LDE, MLB, SS, RT are top-notch
QB, both DTs, FB are solid
LCB, RCB, NickelB, FS should be just fine
SLB both TEs, RDE are just okay (Smith / Barr returning bumps those positions to just fine or better)

- - - - - - - - -

RG, LG are big question marks ... I will say just average but I know that's optimistic

- - - - - - - - -

LT below average (in Hill's defense, his problem is inconsistency and not just being bad)
C not good (in fact, Bradbury's not even ground level – his feet are sticking out from under the pyramid)

*[STs are ... who knows?]

edit: forgot WR3 ... Westbrook if healthy would be 'just fine'

He really looked like a player in 2019. Maybe a product of our scheme?

When the Giants signed pass rusher Ifeadi Odenigbo to a contract with a $1 million signing bonus in March, it appeared that he was virtually assured of making the roster. He did not.

Odenigbo was a surprise cut today.

Originally a seventh-round draft pick of the Vikings in 2017, Odenigbo has had two separate stints in Minnesota and also spent time with the Browns and Cardinals. He started 15 games for the Vikings last season, but this summer he reportedly was struggling to find a fit in the Giants’ defense.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Odenigbo get a third shot with the Vikings, and he’ll surely catch on somewhere, although he’s unlikely to get another $1 million guarantee.

Didn't look good in 2020 as a starter in our scheme but I'd probably take him over Holmes to back up Hunter. Maybe he's just better as a spot player.

Vikings’ TE Irv Smith underwent surgery to repair his meniscus this morning. With a 4-5 month recovery timetable, it is most likely to end his season, per sources.

Dr. Sabrina Strickland of NY Hospital Special Surgeries whose done 1,000 such surgeries & doesn't have Irv Smith as patient said if #Vikings TE needs just a trim done likely would be out 3-6 weeks She said most surgeries are trims but if a repair is needed could be out 4-6 months

Right. I had to google the difference between waive and release. Less than 4 years vested vets have a 24 hr waiver period they can be claimed. Vested vets are free to sign ... unless it is between the trade deadline and end of season then there is a 24 hour waiver window.

I think that's right - wouldn't bet a lot of money on it

I think we used to crucify AP for one fumble out of a hundred possessions. 4 in 71 is an astoundingly high number.

I can think of two: the fumble for an extra yard that cost the Vikes home field advantage fighting for an extra yard after he all ready had the first down in Chicago. The other one wasn't credited to him but it WAS him that fumbled in the NFCCG that was costly for sure.

What were Herndon's two biggest fumbles?

Irrelevant. 4 fumbles out of 71 possessions is an astoundingly high number and if it continues will certainly be costly. Small sample and I hope it doesn't continue.

What percentage of salary to total cap figure did each of them eat up? Did Herndon get benched in the biggest game of his life?

Well by your own screwed-up AP apologist mathematics ... Herndon only lost 2 of his four fumbles so its not that big a deal.

Hopefully, Herndon goes the Abdullah route with a new team versus the AP route ...

someone who has actually improved on their fumbles / weaknesses over their career rather than maintain the stinky part of their game with a vise-like grip.

So #Vikings want TE Zach Davidson, who was a fifth-round pick last May, on their practice squad but he might decide to go elsewhere. Vikings added to their tight end room by picking up Ben Ellefson off waivers, so it's suddenly a bit crowded.

Hold off on this. Source just said that Zach Davidson has gotten another possible option. So he may not return to the #Vikings on the practice squad. He was disappointed by being waived yesterday.
