Even if the coach was all that are the recruits going to go Nebraska (or Iowa) instead of Florida St, Alabama, etc. ?

Those guys don't have to be near as good of coaches as the Nebraska coach to succeed at the highest level.

Heard Cris Carter talking this morning and obviously he's a homer, but he was gushing about how good he thinks OSU is going to be next year. Said he expects Miller to get his starting gig back over Barrett and expects them to be the preseason #1 team. He's probably right.

Meyer and Saban are just a cut above every other college coach out there. IMO

They're really good right now. They need some defensive help, but when Barrett was rolling they could play with anybody. I agree with you on Saban and Meyer.

Hopefully both Florida and Nebraska know what their doing. I think they do.

What makes you think that Steve? I see no proof of Nebraska knowing what they're doing. I sure hope they do but in no way do I think they do.

Because they had the guts and vision to fire a coach that wins 9 games every year. I thought you were all for that? I've listened to Eichorst extensively and believe he knows what he is doing.

I think Alabama is the best team in the country and OSU could still very easily get into the playoff, but the viewer in me half-hopes that Saban and Meyer can be analysts again for the playoffs. Them in the booth together for Auburn/Oregon a couple years ago was one of the most enjoyable telecasts I've ever seen. I could listen to those two talk about football for hours.

Guts? Pelini should have been canned years ago. Trust me I'm glad he's gone. They've had lots of talent to have never won a very weak big 10. Now with OSU getting better it's going to be hard from here on out.

Few programs fire coaches that win 9 games year after year after year. I think it was the right move.

The Ducks are in.
Bama should win their game easily.
TCU I believe is idle.
So if FSU can beat GT there is the final four.

I think Meyer is an idiot if Miller is the starter next year.  That is, assuming, Barrett is healthy.  That kid was playing lights out.

TCU is playing, albeit against a team without a conference win. If Baylor wears out Kansas State (doubtful), they may jump TCU into the playoffs.

What about this scenario? What if FSU loses to GaTech tonight? Will the committee put two big 12 teams in?

They might, though I think Ohio State would have to lay an egg or look abysmal in a win.

Ian and Kurt,
I submitted my request for Post Season Oregon tickets.
They did not make me do both games, so I didn't submit for Rose Bowl.
I was told that tickets will not be hard to come by for you guys if you decide to go.
Face Value was $175 a piece.

It wouldn't be shocking at all for Ohio State to lose. In fact, they're the underdog today.

Murf, congrats on the Ducks. They did indeed look good. Should be a fun playoffs.

You would think a win h2h over TCU holds greater value than two games @WVU. Even though I'd rather see TCU in, Baylor deserves to go on that basis, considering both teams have had similar results.

Baylor has a tough game against KS. If they win I don't know how TCU gets in over Baylor considering Baylor beat TCU.

Agreed on OSU getting in with a win. However, I think Wisc will truck them.

If Baylor and FSU lose does Wisc or GT get the nod???

Melvin Gordon has Barry Sanders in sight: In 1988, Barry Sanders had an amazing season with Oklahoma State, rushing for 2,628 yards rushing and scoring 37 touchdowns in only 11 games. Well, Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon will get the benefit of playing in 14 games, and because of that he could surpass Sanders' mark.
Heading into Saturday, the Heisman hopeful leads the nation with 2,260 yards rushing. If Gordon didn't play another game that total would already be good enough for fourth all-time, with only Sanders, Central Florida's Kevin Smith and Southern Cal's Marcus Allen ahead of him.

Read in the paper that the OSU kid was found dead in a trash bin!

Somehow I don't think anyone would commit suicide in a dumpster. No note that was mentioned either.

Also. the kid was a wrestler and only played football this season but never entered a game. The wrestling coach said there was no documentation of him ever having a concussion at OSU.

The difference thus far in the teams is that TCU played and beat a ranked Minnesota team while Baylor played and beat Buffalo. Now, with a win over Kansas State, something TCU already has, there might be something to Baylor jumping TCU.

We'll see.

I don't think the note was in the trash bin.. the gun was.

Dude was confused and disoriented due to head injuries. Its very plausible he got into the dumpster to kill himself so that the "clean up" wasn't a big burden to anyone.

Very sad all the way around.

Kid had zero concussions according to OSU wrestling coach.
