Joc Pederson’s HR trot yesterday pretty much had me rooting for Houston tonight. He looked so foolish.

Kershaw - stud
Couple role players - studs
Rest of Dodgers supposed stars - duds

You do have to play SOME small ball.
Tried all night to hit 5-run homers.
No one hit one.
Still waiting.

I know I'm biased, but I thought last night's game was entertaining. The Dodgers had a million chances, especially early and in the middle innings. How McCullers didn't give up any runs with all that base traffic was amazing. He sucked. The Dodgers hit several liners with men on base that looked like they were hits off the bat, but they were right at the Houston defenders. Bad luck? Mostly, I'd say so. Also good positioning by the Astros. Overall the Dodgers actually hit the ball better than the Astros did last night. When the Dodgers scored their 1 run, I figured the comeback was on. That it didn't materialize is a credit to Morton. The game felt in doubt until the 8th inning or so. And if Morton had started to lose it, I didn't feel comfortable with Keuchel or Verlander coming in. Remember when Scherzer came in for the Nats? What a disaster. I'd say last night's game is gonna go down as a clunker in most people's eyes. But in my eyes it will go down as underrated.

Yes, that was awkward.

Shoulda came in early and played hero, I thought Morton would be the hero last night.
Yes, even before it started. Good live arm, nasty pitches.
Once he was in, it was over.
Could have easily been 5-4 after a couple innings, had LA relaxed and took what was given to them.
A couple of the young supposed stars have some HUGE holes in their games currently.
Most of them were simply swinging hard and hoping.

McCullers earned some respect, he and the owner seemed liked gracious winners.

Morton has been an up/down guy in his ML career. Parlayed a little run in PIT to a Houston gig. And now this.

When I heard that last night, I misheard and thought Hernandez said "I'm from San Francisco," which I took to be his response to someone saying "we know you want the Dodgers, Keith."

I never looked to see if Hernandez was from San Francisco.

Edit: I guess I didn't mishear. He DID say "I'm from San Francisco."

Just found this:

Hernandez later apologized for his "poor attempt at humor" in a statement sent to the Daily News. Hernandez explained he actually said, "I'm from San Francisco" and was making a reference to the fact he grew up a Giants fan and would never root for the Dodgers.

“I made a poor attempt at humor and never intended for it to be taken the wrong way," Hernandez said. "I am from San Francisco and as baseball fans know, the Dodgers/Giants rivalry runs deep. I did not grow up a Dodger fan and when it came down to Giants vs. Dodgers, I rooted for the Giants. I apologize if any offense was taken.”

This is exactly what I thought. It's hard to tell what was going on from that clip. I don't think his comment had anything to do with a gay joke, but I could just be naive.

Former Twins Liriano and Centeno get WS rings.
Centeno was the only Houston rostered player not to appear.

And now Gardenweasel added Steve Liddle to his coaching staff as his bench coach. He really is putting the band back together. I am a bit surprised to hear Anderson will be the bullpen coach instead of the pitching coach.
