Castillo and Dotel cleared in D R trafficking case

Wonder why they were falsely accused?

Maybe they weren't. Maybe they were cleared because of a money transfer to authorities or sometimes called a bribe.

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs died from a toxic mix of the powerful painkillers fentanyl and oxycodone along with alcohol in an accidental overdose, a medical examiner in Texas said in a report released Friday.

The 27-year-old Skaggs was found dead in his hotel room in the Dallas area July 1 before the start of what was supposed to be a four-game series against the Texas Rangers. The first game was postponed before the teams played the final three games.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office issued a technical report that said Skaggs died as a result of "mixed ethanol, fentanyl, oxycodone intoxication with terminal aspiration of gastric contents."

It said simply: "Manner of death: Accident."

Feel incredibly bad for everyone involved
That said …
Stop with the usual "guy never touched a drug in his life" therefore, this is some weird once-in-a-lifetime thing where a healthy athlete just dies.
99% of the time, its not.
Just stop the immediate protections people, please. Let things play out. It makes the event even worse (if that's possible) when the cold hard facts come to light.

Tough break. Not much he could have done other than let the ball drop.

https://www.mlb.com/news/a-s-get-insurance-run-after-odd-play

I have seen catchers or first/third baseman fall over the dugout railing before catch a foul pop up but there were either no runners on base or maybe a runner on first base and the advance rule was rather obscure. I don't recall ever seeing a situation where the runner scored from third base on that play. That is one for the record books.

In other words, cause of death, died from his vomit.

Why, why, why would anyone touch fentanyl?

For Matt from Wikipedia

Fentanyl, also spelled fentanil, is an opioid used as a pain medication and together with other medications for anesthesia.[3] Fentanyl is also used as a recreational drug, often mixed with heroin or cocaine.[5] It has a rapid onset and effects generally last less than two hours.[3] Medically, fentanyl is used by injection, as a patch on the skin, as a nasal spray, or in the mouth.[3]

Common side effects include vomiting, constipation, sedation, confusion, hallucinations, and injuries related to poor coordination.[3][6] Serious side effects may include decreased breathing (respiratory depression), serotonin syndrome, low blood pressure, addiction, or coma.[3][6] Fentanyl works primarily by activating μ-opioid receptors.[3] It is around 100 times stronger than morphine, and some analogues such as carfentanil are around 10,000 times stronger.[7]

Fentanyl was first made by Paul Janssen in 1960 and approved for medical use in the United States in 1968.[3][8] In 2015, 1,600 kilograms (3,500 lb) were used in healthcare globally.[9] As of 2017, fentanyl was the most widely used synthetic opioid in medicine.[10] Fentanyl patches for cancer pain are on the WHO List of Essential Medicines, which lists the most effective and safe medicines needed in a health system.[11] For a 100 microgram vial, the average wholesale cost in the developing world was US$0.66 in 2015.[12] In 2017, the price in the United States was US$0.49 for that same amount.[13] In 2016, it was the 218th most prescribed medication in the United States, with more than 2 million prescriptions.[14] In 2016, fentanyl and analogues were the most common cause of overdose deaths in the United States at more than 20,000, about half of all opioid-related deaths.[15][16][17] Most of these overdose deaths were due to illegally made fentanyl.[18]

Problem is the illegally made stuff. It can be so potent, that police officers who come in contact with the stuff have died from the exposure. It can be an amazing drug to treat severe pain for instance in advance cancer patients.

But it is coming into the country illegally because we have a bunch of middle and upper middle class people who want to use it.

Shut down the flow of the stuff.....first shut down the demand from people in this stupid country filled with stupid people who can't simply get their high from life. A little bit and you are hooked.

Haven't you heard Miles?
Its hard to do.

I'll say it for the 3 thousandth time.
Any "athlete" who can't throw a baseball reasonably hard and reasonably straight to a catcher 60 feet away, isn't a true "athlete"
One more thing that boggles my mind.
A basketball player who can't do this boggles my mind. Same for football or hockey players.
You shouldn't be in the professional leagues if you can't handle some of the other sports requirements. JMO.

Houston is on a ridiculous streak. They win the prior two games by 36-1 and today they are losing 5-20.

Brewers on a roll, have to finish the year w/o Yelich, fractured knee cap. Fouled a ball off the knee in the first inning Tuesday night.

That is really terrible luck. Wonder if it will cost him what was almost a guaranteed MVP award?

Baseball is a game of numbers. And sometimes they just add up in the most amazing ways.

With a 4-3 victory over the Reds on Tuesday, the Mariners' win-loss record from 1995-2019 now stands at, yep, 1,995-2,019.

Weird coincidence, sure. But even more amazing, that same number combo stood for a time on Tuesday for veteran Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who began his managerial career in 1995 with the Padres. Bochy’s career record was 1,995-2,019 … until San Francisco won a 5-4 decision over Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.

------------------------

That's crazy.

Almost as weird that every day this work week is a palindrome. Today......9-11-19
Tomorrow....9-12-19
Friday.......a scary one....9-13-19

And will continue to 9-19-19 next Thursday
