IMO, Hansborough may have the stats, but his game pales compared to most of the aforementioned...except haywood, whom I was really disappointed in...Always felt he had a 'big' chance to be great, but didn't get it done. .. Same with Montross..

I did find some conflicting stats on Bobby Jones. One source has him averaging the double double in '72 and one source has him just missing in the rebound category.

Montross was just so soft for his size. He was a legit 7 footer with weight, yet many ACC PF's abused him in the paint.

Montross was just so soft for his size. He was a legit 7 footer with weight, yet many ACC PF's abused him in the paint.

Yep, which was always weird to me because he looked like some kind of military psycho. Yet certainly didn't play like one.

Interesting on Bobby Jones.

Bobby Jones, a refreshing blast from the past.
A defensive maniac.
The epic Celts/76ers battles were my favorites.
So many stars, yet Bobby was quite frequently the difference-maker.
Seemed like he weighed about a buck fifty.
I always liked how when he got near the hoop, he dunked. Made sure of everything he did.

I'm with ya. Loved 'em for years. Then the bottom fell out.
I was a Laker/76er fan, which didn't work too well the years they met for the title.
Doc's "rock the baby" dunk in the finals is probably my favorite NBA play.
Magic's miracle game as a rookie where he played center.
Doc's finger roll from the underside of the backboard.
Best era of NBA BB imo.

Totally agreed.

I still think that Magic Johnson game, considering what he did, his age, the moment, etc., is the greatest individual basketball game ever played.

Yo.. you guys have any interest in running back the NCAA Bracket Challenge from a couple years ago? I did not do it last year becuz of work, but my slave driver boss retired, so I am in the clear to actually enjoy myself this year.

I think Lute lost a lot of passion for life in general after his wife passed. He's really not been the same since. It's really sad to see that. Happened the same way for my favorite musician of all time, Mr. Cash.

Sorry about your Dad, I had forgotten that.
My Mom is advancing thru it rather quickly as well.
It tough. All you can do is help as much as possible. A lot of my days off are spent making sure she gets to appts/meetings.
There are a lot of support-groups, (and I'm not a support-group kind-of-guy), but they are very helpful and most are saints.
Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Their best help to me has been education. i see things happening and it's nice to be re-assured by someone thats been thru it.

Back at ya man. I'll be praying for your family as well.

The toughest thing to me is just watching the slow deterioration and knowing that there's very little you can do. Like my dad and I used to always play ping pong, tennis, or even just catch, and we can't do that anymore as he's reduced to a walker and he's not even 60 yet. And you want him to do physical exercise but at the same time you don't want him to fall and hurt himself either. So tough.

We did get him to go to the Parkinsen's center in MN about 2 months ago, and hopefully that will help with the tips they provided.

Really is one of the worst "physical" diseases. My dad is a pretty smart guy so I know it's tough for him to have his mind but not be able to process things physically like he used to. Again, best to you and yours man.

I have heard that that is Lute's faith, but no confirmation obviously. I hope not, for his sake.

Thats tough, D
At least my Mom didn't develop symptoms until very late in her life (she's over 75)
She too, is a sad case, due to what she had going for her.
Sharpest tack I've ever known. Wiz at crosswords, puzzles, very artistic, the English language. Avid painter and reader.
It was like living with an English professor. Knows every word and its correct usage, every meaning, etc.
We've tried to keep her going on that and so far so good, she still spends hours each day exercising her mind.
Hang in there. We need to be strong for them. So we will.
