I thought Cousins had 7 fumbles last year and 2 lost. The year before a high % of fumbles were lost.

Minnesota's Interception thrown rate was 9th best in the league last year at 1.71

https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/pass-intercepted-pct

Mannion had 2 INTS in 21 attempts.

That's with the 27th worst passing oline in the league.

Right, that is why I think this Cousins falls apart under pressure stuff is a myth. He's very good under pressure. My favorite play of his under pressure was the TD to Rudolph to win the playoff game. He had two blitzers right in his face on that one.

Every time we did play action against GB they left an edge rusher home on the weak side.

Cousins filled his diaper every time even though in most cases he still had time to throw.

If you say so. Stats show that when under pressure Cousins made positive plays more than almost every other QB.
Like the play I mentioned. He made that throw with two blitzers right in his grill.

But but but the eye test!

Ask and you shall recieve

Certainly proves your every time case. I'm pretty sure that play is the absolute worst play Cousins has made as a Viking. To MOST people, doesn't make it the norm.

We're going to win a SB in the next 3 years. I believe it in my heart 100%. I know that doesn't mean anything really.

If Cousins does bring us a SB does that automatically make him the greatest QB in our history? I say yes.

I'll take a broken down Randall Cunningham or Brett Favre. We haven't drafted a really good quarterback since Tommy Kramer (as Howard Cosell would say; the brilliant youngster out of Rice). I'm sure there will be people that would say Culpepper was a good quarterback, but I thought he was very fortunate to have a young Randy Moss at his disposal.

Brad Johnson was a good QB.....won a SB. Drafted by MN.

What bothers me about this play is two fold.

1. GB was doing this all game yet Cousins seemed shocked everytime he rolled right there was a defender waiting for him.

2. Stef/Kubiak never made an adjustment to get someone over there all game to block the guy.

Still if Cousins releases that ball 1 second earlier it's a TD and tie game. He hesitates and that buys king the time to go pick it off cuz Diggs is out of real estate and has to wait for it.

maybe make that three fold.

He participated in a SB win. The defense and coaches knowing opponents plays 'won' the SB.

Yep Bill it was a bad play. Along with the slide against KC it was his worst play as a Viking.
On the whole Cousins made far more than his fair share of good plays under pressure.

Nope. That will always be Fran, but I agree a super bowl win is imminent.

3 SB losses for Fran might still put him on top....

Details of the paycut that kept #Vikings LT Riley Reiff in Minnesota: He agreed to take his salary from $11M to $6M, source said. A $5M paycut. Reiff can earn back $2M of that with playtime incentives.

Mike Garafolo@MikeGarafolo
Incentives for Reiff: $1m for 86% playtime, another $1m for 93.75%. Hasn’t missed much time over his career so definitely attainable.

8.2 M cap hit per Sean Borman.

The pay cut is substantial for Reiff; the cap hit is high for the player but, given the situation, okay.

But I'm back to pulling for Reiff, not just because he's on our team but it's clear he wants to be here.

Well, after saying all his goodbyes ...

A 2nd one that wasn't bad (Not as good as Brad)....Wade Wilson. Not the Deadpool Wade Wilson either. Took us to the 1987 NFC Championship game and was the QB that went thru the Saints and SF 49ers like butter in 1987 postseason.

Won a SB with Dallas and played until age of 40.

For Salary Cap purposes - I believe "likely to earn incentives" are counted towards the current cap yr (if achieved) and "unlikely" towards the following year. I have no idea how they determine what is likely or not. I just checked to see if overthecap had updated their information. If it only ends up being a 3M cut - it wasn't worth it from a cap perspective IMO. And it seems likely he'll earn the 2M in incentives. But it is what it is.

75% of the pressures Reiff gives up are playoff and divisional opponents. Many rip Cousins for primetime performance but it seems like quite a few are ok with or wanted Reiff back. I don't get it.

The Quentin Poling has always been very bad.

They had Hillary winning by 18 points in 2016.

How can you make that assumption?
- Who clamored for Reiff coming back. Maybe a couple of people in the context of not having a worthy replacement combined with learning roster spots with a little over a week to go until the opener.
- Probably next to nobody knew the cap savings until today, if that.
- I suspect others agree with the phrase you used "it is what it is". Or people can pull a John Childress and post for days about accepting mediocrity, but what's done is done.

I think the board is more like grudging acceptance, but Reiff is just one component of a larger issue with OL resource expenditures.

Reiff will start, and hope Cleveland will get reps. I don't know how that will play out with Reiff's playing time incentives.

Not an assumption, re-read posts. More than a few I can name that wanted back before the agreed cut (and after it announced), but won't - not worth it. And that's ok - the reason I post here is for the differing opinions.
