Should be noted, the one 3-yard catch Dantzler allowed was also the one on which he forced a turnover on a forced fumble and fumble recovery

Ifeadi Odenigbo notched 8 pressures, largely against Cam Robinson. Really nice game

Nick Olson

And these from Olson are surprising to me. Good surprises.

Bradbury played well. Got pushed back in the pocket when one-on-one but earned an 81.6 pass blocking grade and allowed zero pressures. Overall grade was 63.9 due to a 58.2 run blocking grade.

O'Neill graded very poorly in pass protection but had a 91.3 run blocking grade despite a hold. I think his grade should have been lower

If the Vikings win next Sunday their odds to make the playoffs rise to 70%.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-nfl-predictions/

Actually, we kind of need the Niners to lose tonight. That helps our odds, too, but if the Niners win and the Vikings lose Sunday then odds are in the teens for the Vikings to make the playoffs. Big game? Huge game. You could say it's a playoff game.

To the delight of some I've been gone for a long time, but it's just too damn depressing coming here to read all the whining when we lose or have a losing record. We have an above average team right now that in a couple years I believe will be a very strong contender to win it all.
The 1-5 start to the season was a combination of so many new players and some bad luck. The 5-1 rebound IMO is much more indicative on the team we are.

Tomlin was selected by Vikings' head coach Brad Childress to be his defensive coordinator in 2006.[4][5] The 2006 Vikings finished with the NFL's eighth-best overall defense, but had the unusual distinction of finishing as the top-ranked defense against the run[6] and the worst-ranked defense against the pass.[7]

Head coach
After spending 2006 as the Vikings defensive coordinator, Tomlin was selected to interview for the vacant head coaching position with the 2005 Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. With only a year of experience as a defensive coordinator, Tomlin was hired on January 27, 2007 to become the sixteenth Steelers head coach.

With Tomlin, the Steelers continued a trend of hiring head coaches in their 30s. The others were Cowher (age 34 in 1992), Chuck Noll (38 in 1969), Bill Austin (38 in 1966), John Michelosen (32 in 1948), Jim Leonard (35 in 1945), Aldo Donelli (33 in 1941), Walt Kiesling (35 in 1939), Johnny "Blood" McNally (33 in 1937), and Joe Bach (34 in 1935).

Seemed like our oline performance was shaky at best.
Worst run blocking I've seen in a long time.

No surprises really from watching the game. Dozier is approaching Tom Compton/Remmers levels of awful. I would rather see Jones or Udoh given a chance at guard.

Reiff/Cleveland/Bradbury/Udoh/ONeil
Reiff/Jones/Bradbury/Cleveland/Oneil

Our Dline is overall invisible. Could be the unit that prevents us from getting to the playoffs/early exit. Boyd was also pretty brutal. We really need Kendricks back, hopefully he was pulled because we were playing the Jags.

Cousins took a beating - he doesn't get enough credit for his toughness.

2020 draft is looking pretty good. Dantzler could be a gem. Gladney a contributor. Cleveland and of course JJ. Not to mention Wonnum. 4 starters with several having big upside - something the team can build on.

S, G, DT looking like early needs next year.

Harris has not had a great year, but he showed up yesterday and made some big plays.

Agreed. With our cap next year, he'll be 30? With young corners and Zimmer changing schemes, hard to know how his performance compares. I'm not sure he's worth another franchise tag or a long term contract. We also need to start preparing for Smith's departure.

So then you concur.

I had no idea what you deleted I was just having some fun. Is this where you brought up the "chick" calling the game?

So you're back to read all the whining now that we've won 5 of 6 and are back in the playoff hunt?

The #Bucs are waiving WR and returner Jaydon Mickens, source said, and he goes on waivers today at 4 pm. Mickens has been productive, with 7 catches and 21 returns between kickoffs and punts. A surprise.

(Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

KJ Osborn ranks 51st in PFF return grade out of 51 players with at least ten returns.
Jaydon Mickens ranks 16th.

Overthecap has his contract as 14M next year. It might be worth keeping. ONeill has been solid but not great. Cleveland might be needed at G.

Few random thoughts on a rewatch:

• Dozier & O'Neill really struggled
• Cousins had at least three really nice sideline tosses that I thought Jefferson/Thielen could've reeled in
• Secondary all played well, particularly Gladney and Dantzler. Really encouraging

Missing Wonnum...he actually was starting to play really well. Hope he isnt' out to long.

Agree. He is one of those guys whose career arc could be dramatically impacted by how things go from the end of his rookie year (now, for him) and the beginning of his second year. He needs to get stronger and show up more in the run game, but I'm excited to see his progress.

Agree on the toughness. I've brought it up a few times. Also agree on Kendricks. PA said today that he looked to be hobbled a fair amount on the sidelines yesterday, but hopeful it heals quickly.

Don't know the money sitch, but if that's not a factor I'd grab him. Not only for the possibility of improved punt returns, but for intel on this weeks opponent.

Just reading up about him, he's not really the fastest guy nor does he have exceptional leaping ability. What he does have is quick twitch change of direction. He's like a pin ball. Here's a highlight video from his time in college.

Does it coincide with Dantzler being back and trusted to guard his man?

Wonder how quick he would look if they showed the plays in normal time, i.e. w/o speeding them up.

It's worth noting that edjsports.com ONLY judges and makes commentary on coaches decisions on offense on fourth down. When the article says 'worst coaching decision' they mean worst coaching decision on offense on a fourth down. Greg Williams would win worst decision hands down if we were including everything.

Dakota Dozier has a 49.7 PFF grade for the season, ranking him 75th out of 83 guards (Samia is 82nd). Can the Vikings at least try a week of Jones and Cleveland at guard?
