Feels like a down year for DE...

I also feel like Zim and Spiels could force DE out of need

I would hate to see us do that and end up with Erasmus James II...

Spielman and Zimmer haven't drafted a DE in the first round (unless you consider Barr a DE).

After drafting the James’, Alexander’s (Over Warren Sapp), Udeze’s, and Underwood’s of the world I’m happy to stick to our 4th round DE hits.

Draft Barmore (The next Warren Sapp imo), bring back Everson, and let Wonnum/ mid round pick develop.

Agreed. Pierce and Barmore at DT. They bring back Griffen on the cheap as Zimmer loves going to the well for veterans he has coached. Wonnum, Iggy, and whoever battle for playing time.

Their calling card though is 1st round CB, 4th round DE, UFA DT.

Kinda hate grouping Udeze in that group.

Don't forget Clemons and Boireau, although the latter should be grouped with the new Udeze splinter group.

If you consider illness/disease/injury, the splinter group expands with James, Underwood, Udeze, and Boireau.

That leave Clemons and Alexander as the DE group to bitch about in a pure sense. Alexander absorbs most of those hits but mainly because Sapp was available.

I was begging for Sapp on that draft day, even though there is about a 40% I will be right on such things.

Everyone was. Literally everyone (except the Vikings).

I'm not sure what people were more shocked by: 1) That he fell all the way to our pick, or 2) That we didn't immediately draft him.

Yes, he tested positive for....GASP....weed. In retrospect, it isn't surprising because Denny basically blew every defensive pick he made in the first round, other than Washington, who he traded because he didn't get along with Solly.

Green once said it wasn't that he smoked weed but that the report of it surfaced the night before the draft and there was concern about what else was going on.

Once the effects of Lawrence Phillips settled down, he did take troublemaker Randy Moss. That was of course great, but it led to Green (and his buddy Solomon) thinking they were draft wizards.

Standing in that long line of DB’s who didn’t get along/ had zero respect for Solly...

Back in those days it usually led to heroin addiction.

Daniel Jeremia mocking us Devonta Smith.

I feel comfortable betting there's no way we go WR in the 1st. Nevermind a twig.

I think one can make a case that WR is the best move possible if one of the top four fall.

Smith would be BPA but that would go against Zim's DNA.

We need a #3, badly, and we'll a #2 in the next couple of years. Adequate IOL play with another good receiver could make the offense good enough to kind of make up for how bad the defense is probably going to be.

Of course, unfortunately that's not our style.

We want a bell cow RB and stout against the run defense. That's our style.

Sadly, because the bar is so low, Smith and Conklin are deemed great TE options. Holy shit, how crazy does that sound?

We have just two quality WR's and two (way) below average TE's. Probably not the way you want to construct a 2021 roster.

Don't worry about that, our OLine is top-notch.

After four years of seasoning, Treadwell managed to become the fifth/sixth best WR for the Falcons. We wasted four years thinking he was good enough to be a 3.
Why? Because we discovered he blocked well at Ole Miss.
We're set at pass catchers. Not important to have more than two. This is who we are.

Sorry...can't wrap my head on spending top resources on a 3rd WR. 5th through 7th on that. I stick with it being a safe bet our 1st won't be on a WR. I mean think about it...we're a run first team

I also think we're set at TE unless a can't pass up guy falls in our laps

We are not even average within our division at that position.

How are you measuring this?

I propose that skill wise we have avg TE's. I think your downgrading them w/o allowing for their blocking assignments taking away from their #'s
