LMAO being that you're who brought her up. Big time in Japan. Pretty much unknown in the US. I took the time to look her up on the slim chance you were being serious.

Thank God that you guys, with your snarky barbs at each other, keep me from wondering "WTF are these guys?" on our kicking situation. I'm sure our FG ZenMister Zimmer has them in check. Canton bound Greg Joseph and Riley Patterson everbody!

Back to your normal ways as there is nothing to see here (with regards to our kickers, literally.....nothing).

Hey, at least we're off the Cousins argument.

No matter what confusion you have about bohumm's reply....w/o reading any of the posts I suspect it has to do with the thread.

When it comes to kicking and special teams I just close my eyes and imagine Calgon taking me away. I mentally prepare for every FG and PAT to be missed, every punt to be blocked and the returner to fumble. This way I'm pleasantly surprised about 70% of the time.

No. It has to do with him going out of his way to be a jerk towards me. What I say or the thread has nothing to do with it. I could say that Love is good and he would find something about that to mock.

C'mon guys
It's not that hard to have meaningful conversation and stay on topic. If someone rubs you wrong, so what, get over yourself and move on without responding.

we may have a fun season ahead. I come here because there are a lot of guys that know much more than I do, I like to hear different opinions on sports than my own.
Pointed comments and retorts are needless on both sides and childish, I know all of you have way more to offer than that.

The kicking game does concern me "again". Maybe with the O line additions Zimmer won't utilize a kicker lol. IDK the stats, but in many situations I seem to think, coaches should keep the offense on the field more than they do anyway.
If we can improve our special teams to average that would be fantastic. We potentially are very solid in many areas. How do the young guys opposite Hunter look? if we could trade for a solid DE that would be outstanding imo. Spielman on paper has done an impressive job this offseason. More than I would have ever expected after last season ended. I've been chiming to get Reiff out of there for three years.

Analytics say that NFL teams punt way more often than they should.

If you’re at the 50 or closer you should never punt it.

Pinning them at their own one-yard-line every time
doesn’t yield a better expected outcome than going for it.

That's the thing a lot of people don't get. When you punt and you have the perfect result it was still probably not as good as going for it. Opponents can and will have scoring drives against you no matter where they start from. Sure the further they have to go the better, but giving up your chance to score and giving them one isn't likely to yield a good result.

4&1 vs 4th&5 vs 4th&10

In a vacuum I'd almost always go for it. But do you have a 4th and 8 play that has a reasonable chance of success? Has the offense been moving the ball well? Are you up? Down. A lot of factors.

4th and whatever distance from whatever yard line has been analyzed. The likely gain or loss on the scoreboard comes back that you should go for it most of the time. Punting should be an exception not the rule.

The analytics aside - those studying it have determined it's more of a psychological thing with the coach's decision than anything else and it's two-fold. One - moving the ball further away from the opponent's end zone 'feels right'. Second - they are afraid of looking foolish on the times it fails.

I thought the first version of the band was both. Arthur Lee was a genius, who got in his own way at every turn.

Most of the time, Im pretty sure it's about game management as much as anything else. In the late third quarter/fourth quarter with the lead, Im sure you are wanting to give your opponent as long a field as possible.

Early in the game, you also don't want to foolishly give field position and give short drives for points against, it's not a good message to either your offense or defense. You end up pressuring your offense and confusing your defense, but this is just a coaches view, this discussion has gone on many times as we game plan. Punting is an option, it is a game time situational play, I'd be curious to know what the outcome would be if more coaches took chances earlier in the game, but that is an unknown.

A big effect of going for it on fourth is that if you know you’re going it changes your strategy in 2nd and 3rd down and makes you more effective and efficient. 3rd and six has a fairly limited choice of play calls if you’re punting if you don’t make it. But If you know you’re going anyway the playbook is wide open.

That's sweet! They have no idea if Cook is coming at them to the left, right up the middle or the right!!!!!!!
