I agree with David and KGdabom, I prefer being agressive most of the time and going for it.

If you crossed the 50, 4th and 5 or less, go for it.

I'm glad you're loving him. A Minnesota band Trampled by Turtles also did an amazing cover of Keep me in your heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeIy8eJF4Gs
People throw around the term genius too freely, but in the case of Warren it is very deserved.
With Bruce's permission Warren took this unreleased Springsteen song and made it his own with new lyrics and arrangement.

My history of stud receivers: Carter, Moss, Harvin, Diggs, Jefferson.

Loved em all. Feels like Jefferson might be the 1st that's not hard to love.

Thank God that you guys, with your snarky barbs at each other, keep me from wondering "WTF are these guys?" on our kicking situation. I'm sure our FG ZenMister Zimmer has them in check. Canton bound Greg Joseph and Riley Patterson everbody!

Back to your normal ways as there is nothing to see here (with regards to our kickers, literally.....nothing).

Hey, at least we're off the Cousins argument.

When it comes to kicking and special teams I just close my eyes and imagine Calgon taking me away. I mentally prepare for every FG and PAT to be missed, every punt to be blocked and the returner to fumble. This way I'm pleasantly surprised about 70% of the time.

If that's not bad enough, a couple of years ago I wondered if it just SEEMED damn near every kicker would boot 50+ yard FGs against us as if they were chip shots. I posted something on it back then. Turns out, we are (or were) last as far as long FGs against.

Not the teams fault per se, guess someone has to be last. Could have been a function of the division having good kickers back then.

4&1 vs 4th&5 vs 4th&10

In a vacuum I'd almost always go for it. But do you have a 4th and 8 play that has a reasonable chance of success? Has the offense been moving the ball well? Are you up? Down. A lot of factors.

The analytics aside - those studying it have determined it's more of a psychological thing with the coach's decision than anything else and it's two-fold. One - moving the ball further away from the opponent's end zone 'feels right'. Second - they are afraid of looking foolish on the times it fails.

I find the psychological parts very interesting. Feels right. You just know players have to be dejected coming off the field on 4th at the 50 yard line less than a yard shy. I would try and avoid taking the sails out of my team.

I find a lot of the times Zimmer goes for it, or not, feels opposite to what feels right. Like it's already predetermined and not game context sensitive.

Big O. Not in the tiniest bit. If you can't recognize it than you can't, but your limitations don't change his status. Warren Zevon is a musical genius. Well was as he's no longer alive.

Some people/things really bug me though. Trigger me. But who am I to say how people deal with the things and people that trigger them? No one.

In my defense I do believe I took the things that people called me out on and tempered them. At least to a notable degree.

I need to focus on keeping my own stick on the ice.

Genius! Possibly a term of endearment in Canada, but it plays out as post of the year here!

I see your post went clear over his head.

The important thing to note, for the record, is Warren Zevon is/was NOT a genius but instead a fluke.
