ORIGINAL: djskillz Got some intel on the Price/Eckersley drama this week. Let's just say that you guys that are pro-Eck in this shouldn't exactly jump to conclusions. There's a reason the whole team was standing up for Price, etc. A LOT more to this story than the Boston press would have you believe. Not to mention a lot of the racist stuff HAS been going on from the fans. Until you share that intel, we have only what we've heard elsewhere to go on. Eckersley is a hall of fame pitcher. Price acted a disrespectful prick. Now if there is something that Eckersley did outside of criticizing a shitty pitching outing with "yuck"...then please let us in on it so we can all make a truly informed decision. I can't get into detail, but lots of stuff behind the scenes that he's pissed off players for years. Has kind of crossed the "criticism with your job" line many times. A lot of people think he's the inspiration for Sam Malone in Cheers; a womanizer, huge ego, holding on to past glory, etc. Have another friend that's worked with his brother, a convict, and his brother told him that Eckersley was always a "way worse degenerate than him; he just got caught." Not to mention that the press hasn't been reporting just how often Price is getting called the N word and other truly awful things in Boston throughout his time there. Not saying Price is blameless in this, but by all accounts he's always been about the best clubhouse guy there is, and I know him and his family and they're wonderful, community-based, people. I'd take all of those accounts vs. what we've heard of Eck any day of the week.
