As you were saying ....

Giants scratch out a tough run in the top of 11
And of course .... Dodgers come up with two to win it
In the bottom of 11

CHICAGO -- The Cubs have acquired Detroit Tigers closer Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avila in exchange for minor league infielders Jeimer Candelario and Isaac Paredes, according to a source familiar with the situation. The Cubs will be sending Detroit a player to be named later or cash as part of the trade as well.

Yup, that was kinda fun for the lifelong minor leaguer pull that off in his first major league AB.

Brian Cashman absolutely killed it
Kept ahold of the prized prospects
Picked up a #5 and a #1 or 2, who is under cheap contract until 2019

Epstein once again killed it too.
Several good pieces for little long-term cost.

And the other GMs play along with it.

Don't get that at all.

They keep their best and get better.

THIS is how a professional athlete, from ANY OTHER sport, should throw out a first pitch.
They just should.

Yup, still hung up on this thing.

Petey Rose being accused of statutory rape during his playing days.

This might be the least-shocking news I have heard in years.
P. O. S. in my eyes from the first time I saw him on a TV screen.
Can't believe others don't get "that feeling" from him.

It was accurate, but I think you could throw harder.

Right there with ya. I've never liked him. Ultimate used car salesman type. He's the real life Saul Goodman, except WAY less smart and likeable.

Man, I hate the Sonny's a Yankee. Both deals for Yu and Sonny were pretty underwhelming to me. But there had been talk that it was definitely a buyers' market this year. Will be interesting to see how those work out. Gray/Severino may be the best healthy 1-2 in the AL right now. I think it's all going to come down to how the kids do for the Yanks as well as Tanaka/Sabathia. The bullpen should be lights out. And for the Dodgers, a playoff trio of Kershaw/Yu/Wood (maybe the CYA winner this year?) could be pretty formidable as well. Plus you gotta think that pen should be pretty awesome if you shift guys like Maeda/McCarthy/Hill there in the playoffs to go with Jansen/Watson.

The "Cycle" is so yesterday. I'm not impressed until they add a BB to it.

There may be several Twins who would have swung and missed that one.
